Got the 08 PT Cruiser engine mount and torque struts changed. Now, we'll go ahead and take care of our 14 Ford Focus brake pads and rotors now. Should be less intensive than the engine mount replacement! That was a job! Thank you for excellent video and tutorial, sir.

Thanks. Did mine at the weekend with my son . He's an apprentice panel beater so is learning lots at work but I watched this just to prepare myself.( started doing some bits on my 20 year old mini but never really done much on cars before )

Thanks a bunch, this video was probably made in 2019 or 2020 so I want to say the price of pads sure went up, well, the price of everything really. After taxes my pads were $70 CDN or about $50 US. There were some cheaper options for maybe $50 CDN tho. Changing the pads on my 2015 SE station wagon and figured I ought to refresh my memory on the process. This video was just the ticket. Not much different from when I did this on my 2002 Focus. Except the price of course.

You are correct about the prices . Used to be 30 dollar pads and now paying close to 60 . Just experienced this myself. Thank you very much for the feedback.

When putting everything back on do I have to pump the breaks with the car or what
@s33therfan2 жыл бұрын
Yes. Definitely make absolutely sure the brakes are pumped and firm before moving the vehicle. Also make sure the brake fluid as at the proper level. Great question and thank you for watching.

Yeah I think mine are good . nowhere as thin as yours . But pads looks more thicker towards the outer part .. Though I've never done one with ABS . Any different ?

No, they will be the same procedure. Thank you very much for watching.

@@s33therfan can drum brakes be converted to disc ? I never heard of it but..
@530Wrangler_Bullyz5 ай бұрын
@@frankmontez6853yes they can but to be honest you most likely got to get a whole axle/rear end

I have 3mm left on my discs how soon should I replace them?
@s33therfan2 жыл бұрын
I would change them asap. Also the wear is most times not very even so it may be less in certain areas. Thanks for the feedback.

How thin can disc pads get ? Mine are about 1/4 in thickness left. Front ones are disc the rear are drum .
@s33therfan2 жыл бұрын
They still have some life left but it may be something you want to replace before long just to be safe. I would not want them getting down to 1/8. Also sometimes the pads wear uneven so some may be less than others. The rear drums I focus on after the front, most of the time they last way longer . The front take on most of the work . Great question and thank you for watching.
@frankmontez68532 жыл бұрын
@@s33therfan hanks will buy them soon . I saw you get ceramic ..? Some are metallic and semi metallic and then there's ceramic ? They all last do the same thing ?
@s33therfan2 жыл бұрын
I always use ceramic , just a preference. In theory the softer the pad the less the rotor wears . Thanks again.
