In this video I show how to replace the front brake pads on your car. The car I use to demonstrate is a 2016 Hyundai Sonata but this will work for any car. I also give a few tips on metal on metal contact points that should be lubricated.

You don't grease the slides you use silicon paste grease degrades the rubber boot, mixes with the factory silicone, and rusts the slide pin causing it seize. Do not use grease or anti seize

It's important to change the hardware clips. Also to clean the groove the clips sit in. And that anti-sieze glopped on like that causes problems. A magnet for dirt.

Good work... Id only suggest opening the brake fluid reservoir cap (if you didn't) before you C-clamp the calipers. Sometimes the master cylinder will take a hit from the pressure.

There's a little confusion between what to grease the part that he's greasing is actually called a guide pin these slides would be the little metal brackets that go in the caliber bracket that the back brake pads rest in you don't want to grease the slides you want to grease the guide pins

You can, typically you should never have to add or remove brake fluid unless bleeding or doing a flush it’s a sealed system so low fluid means low pads when they are replaced it will be full again

These slides are actually a type of metal with coating that resists brake dust so you don't want to grease those
@420banshee7
@420banshee7 2 жыл бұрын
Actually yes you should use antisieze like he did or brake caliper grease which is the green stuff he's talking about and if you live on or drive a lot of dirt roads then the green grease will gum up and you should use the silver antisieze or they will 100% rust and freeze up solid and they won't work correctly

@thehatefull1761 2 ай бұрын
@@420banshee7 isn't that kind of contradictory to what you're saying then and kind of verifies what I said that you don't want to use grease on there because they already have a coating that will resist a brake dust I'm a little bit confused because you're saying yes you're supposed to use degrees but then you're saying no because it will seize up and those clips already have a demagnetized coating on them to resist brake dust and dirt so why would you add anything to them that's going to be like glue and stick every piece of dirt and dust to it creating basically sandpaper glue but I guess to each his own

You know I’ve been doing brakes over 20 years never had a brake line break or get damaged from letting them hang. I always see people freaking out over this I work at a shop and do multiple brake jobs a day also. There is a difference between letting them hang and letting them fall and yank the line.

There was nothing wrong with the rotors man 🤷🏼‍♀️ if there isn’t uneven pad wear and they are not warped and still thick enough they don’t need to be replaced. I get it I work at a shop for a living and we try and pressure everyone into buying rotors every brake change but it’s not needed. The top hat of every rotor will tell you the minimum thickness it can still be used at if you ever question if they are still useable

You should never really replace pads without rotors as the old rotor will chew up the new pad visa versa…. Just saying.. also… to release the caliber easier just open the bleed thencompress it and then just top the reservoir off :/
