Just replaced mine, 03 530i, 196,400 miles on original filter. WOW! What a difference! I don’t have the Bentley manual, so I had to kinda wing it based on info I could dig up on the net. A few suggestions. 1/4 tank of gas or less (check) depressurise the fuel line (um how do I do that? I think theres a pressure release on the fuel rail, didn’t really help) get some new fuel line flexible hose (check) get European style adjustable fuel clamps to replace [x4] (check) prime fuel system a few times before starting (check) test system to make sure car runs before buttoning up (check) do whole project on buddies car lift because it’s nearly impossible with just a floor jack... imperative. Not a difficult job, the rubber gets a bit brittle, so it cuts off pretty easy, just cut the rubber and replace it, it saves time and effort and you’re less likely the get gasoline on you and your buddy while trying to pry the rubber off the line like in the video. Also, the special crimp tool, look in any hardware store for “nail puller” Chanel lock makes them and so does knipex. Same tool, $100 less than auto store special order.

In general, the replacement will be similar, the only thing that may be slightly different is the design features of your car. More precise information can be found in the technical documentation of the car or by contacting a service centre

Now i miss the volvo’s solution. The hoses had som connectors without clamps. Plug and play, had to use a fork to make them release but there it takes just some minutes to change. But the filtre was other place so there was no cover to take off first😊

The small lengths of rubber hose, which will certainly have deteriorated, are not replaced also? False economy. The system is pressurized, so BMW advise removing the relevant fiuse and running the engine to reduce pressure and have as much of the fuel out of the system before starting dismantling. Could have been better to show that, instead of all the time showing how to remove the protective panel.

Thank you for the feedback! The video is informative and shows only the general principles of the constitution and the operation of the car and it is in no way to be taken as a manual for repair and maintenance. Best Regards, Autodoc
@klaasj78086 жыл бұрын
Well they only advice that as environment issue, not as good cause for the car. You dont want the engine to get empty on gasoline. Just unplug and undrain. Even extreme high pressure systems as K-jet there is no issue just unbolt and replace. There is not really that much fuel. There wont be everything from the gasoline tank. Only what is in the fuel line.
