What difficulties did you come across when replacing this car part?

autodoc.co.uk removing the fuel lines from the filter was quite difficult. Thankyou for making this video; I could not have done this job without the video. The factory manual was not sufficient.

I watched your video, it was very helpful, but it kinda didn't explain the use of that special pair of pliers (used to remove or unlock the clip inside the pressure out flow plug, leading out to the engine.. I broke the clip inside plug..was told to cut it off and add an extension. Is it possible to reinstall plug into hose.. And how? Please help!

Thank you for the feedback! In this video we have used special pliers to remove the fuel line connectors and you can find this tool on our website by article number 115.0900 KS TOOLS. We do not recommend trimming and remaking fuel lines, the best way is to return everything to its normal state. Stay tuned with us! Best regards, Autodoc team!

I'm trying to locate the correct line & plug, but I was told BMW dealer has a metal type line, but that's not what's on the car unless it's a replacement line (maybe they don't make the old one anymore?) Where and how can I find the correct line. Or do I have to give in and send the car to the shop? Thanks for responding..

Great video. I think it would have helped if you removed lines first before removing the bolts holding filter. Just a thought.

How do you disable the BMW HVAC system from turning on automatically during start up? I don't want it to start right away when I start the car. Turning the HVAC off before turning off the car does not seem x5 e53

This is possible without a lift. Takes an hour. On the v6 there is a hidden bolt where two under body panels come together near the left rear well. So have to unscrew a few more smaller screws to find it

i did this job a couple of weeks ago. took my car to a self service shop that had a lift. not sure i could have raised the car high enough with just jack stands. maybe, but they would have to be pretty tall jack stands. to anyone wanting to do this job, you might want to buy a set of rubber vacuum line adapters/connectors/fittings (not sure what they are called - little rubber piece that slips over the end of the hard vacuum line). my rubber fitting was old and brittle. i thought it might tear with i was trying to remove the vacuum line from the fuel filter

It would be a big help if you would clarify the engine size and fuel type of the vehicle you're working on. To say X5 e53 is not very helpful.

It appears in this video pretty much as I expected. I'm also fairly certain that on another vehicle that it likely won't go as smoothly, frozen hardware or non conforming parts and such. That's why mechanics are needed, if everyone could do this nobody would go to a shop.

The best advice is don't be under the filter or fuel lines when you remove them and wear some type of eye protection. You really don't want fuel in your eyes, the rest of it is pretty cut and dry. Easy breezy 👍
