Thanks for video. Was gonna take it down to local mechanic. When i called, he asked if i had the bulb. Taken by surprise I asked if he said "if i have the bulb" to which he said "I'm not a parts store". Yikes...talk about customer service. i understand not auto repair shops would have all the parts but could've handled differently. That's when i looked to see if i could do it myself.

Thanks this was helpful! I only needed to replace the driver's side low beam so I didn't even need to take out the battery, just snuck my hand between the battery and the light! Honda Accord 2003.

I was trying to replace the low beam bulb on my wife's 2003 Accord, and I tried going the route you did but the bulb wouldn't turn so I assumed I needed to at least loosen the screws. We then checked the manual and it says to go in through the wheel well! This has been so frustrating and I wasn't able to get the bulb out, so next time I try I may try your method again, this time using pliers or something to take the bulb out

Oh man! Sometimes it can be VERY tight. A pliers is a good idea. Be sure to turn it the correct direction for removal (counter clockwise, if I remember correctly). Good luck! 👍

if its a bit to tight and you cant get it out you can losen the phillips screws a bit. I started removing headlight assembly before i checked another vid

I'll be doing this next couple of days, hope it is just the bulbs, both high beams are out (fuses and light switch both seem to be fine). I'll likely be doing the vice grips, as I did attempt to turn the passenger side bulb by hand and it did not budge… and now I have the bulbs (last time I recall it took some wd40 and unscrewing the screws a bit to loosed things up, also took like what seemed hours since there's so little room to work in (passenger side). Too long ago to remember how difficult the driver side ones were.

Lmk how if it works for you, because both of my brights went out at the same time as well, which tells me bulbs are not likely but like you said, the fuse is fine so🤷🏻‍♀😊

One more thing to check is the high beam headlight relay. If this component goes bad, both headlights would go out at the same time. It's located in the underhood fuse box. Good luck, hope you figure it out! 👍

I'd already checked the low and high beam fuses first, then tore my lights switch apart (it was pretty clean inside, nothing like the one in the youtube vid I was looking at, so just cleaned the copper traces with a little bit of alcohol, and eventully got it back together right) and put it back in without any luck. Then got a new switch just in case and same thing. (I really did not want to do the bulbs obviously.) Did not notice a relay, but things were clicking in seemingly an appropriate manner when I put the ligths through their motions, so figured things were probably ok. So bulb time today, now that it finally warmed up for a little bit. This is a 2003 4 cylinder accord (almost 304K miles). Started with the passenger side high beam, had to loosen one screws to get it to budge (with a very short screwdriver) and removed the bulb assembly. With the vice grips holding the bulb assembly and a flat head screwdriver to pry up the socket's latch/clip enough to get past the nub on the bulb assembly, then pushing the socket on each side with the same screwdriver until the bulb assembly finally came loose. Put the new bulb in, tested it out, it worked! Plugged it back in and tightend up all 3 screws. On the other side, removed that battery, took off the cover on top and in front of it, loosened all the screws and it came out easily after that. Perhaps not having replaced this one before after all?, some wd40 seemed necessary to loosen the connection, then pretty much the same thing otherwise. Just came in to get my handing dandy index card with the code and the radio stations (I've done this part a lot over the years.) So maybe an hour or two all told. Probably should have just started with the bulbs. The first bulb had some dark spots but didn't look bad otherwise, the second was more dark and had a bubble protruding from its side (eek). Not sure if they really went out at the same time, but I sure did notice something was amiss when the second one went out, though it took a week or three to finally notice that the brights weren't there. Mission accomplished.

Question! When changing the light bulb can you change the light to white instead of yellow? Is there something I’m missing or is the bulb just a standard colour. Is the head unit the thing that needs to change?

Yes, you can! When buying the bulb, choose the color based on the "temperature" which is referred to in terms of Kelvin, or "K." Yellow lights are around 3000K, white is around 5000K, and blue lights are around 8000K. Here are a few examples: 4100K - amzn.to/3zJF1Mo 6000K - amzn.to/4feIwL1

I have a question. Does honda consider the actuall headlights when you turn the knob high beams, and the inner bulb for daytime run lights low beams that are always on? Im super confused on which is 9005 and which is 9006.

Yeah this can get confusing. In the video, I labeled the location of each on the car (I put the words/part number on top of the corresponding lights). Hopefully that is clear. If not, the outer lights are the low beams (9006). The inner lights are the high beams (9005 - also sometimes referred to as "brights"). Good luck! 👍

No, the bulb housing is shaped differently between the 9005 and the 9006, so it won't go in...

i TRIED TO ROTATE THE CONNECTOR LEFT ON THE HIGH BEAM ON BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE AND COULD NOT DO IT BY HAND. i ALSO TRIED A LONG HANDLE CURVED NEEDLE NOSE PLIERS AND COULD NOT REMOVE THE BULB FROM THE CONNECTOR WITH THE PLIERS PUSHING DOWN ON THE TAB. WHY ARE YOU SAYING NOT TO LOOSEN THE PHILLIPS SCREWS? I ALSO TRIED SPRAYING WD 40 ON THE CONNECTOR IN ORDER TO GET IT TO RELEASE FROM THE BULB. THAT DID NOT WORK.

Check the tightness of the battery connectors. And clean off any corrosion. Need to be real tight with no corrosion in the way. Good luck! 👍
