How to change hydraulic suspension pump on a Citroen C5

My c5 (x7c had pump failure after a blown hose on rear. I had a spare pump from my mk1 swooped the ecu control box over with no issues but there is a small difference in the pumps the mk1 pump has an external fluid return where the (x7) has it internally. Chasing the pipework about I found a return line behind the engine coolant tank and cut in to it putting a tee connector in it and run the return from the pump to it. It’s worked fine for the last 4yrs with no issues but you must ensure to use some good pipe clamps. So for anyone who’s had a pump issue there is a fix so you can use older style pumps on a more modern car if you can’t find a pump.

Form 2003 till 2010 I owned this C5 2.2 HDI model, then changed to the actual 1,6 THP automatic. Till now i did'nt have any problem with the hydaulic suspension, in my opinion this is the best suspension by far in the market sorry Citroen will kill it :-(

Thankfully on the newer C5 X7 there is no removing the bumper etc. The pump also holds a little bit of pressure, even when the system is drained. When you undo the high pressure lines it squirts out. Plus, when all the system is back together you do have to prime the system before raising the car. Great video all the same.

Good video Point to mention here is someone has increased the fuse rating and blown the ecu board then it will work but no manual control will work until the ecu is programmed to the car

Hello is there also a easy way to change all of the LDS system fluid? I've heard from multiple sources, that changing the luid can make a significant difference in suspension smoothness and steering can be lighter. The electric steering pump unit in a phase2 C5 2.0 petrol takes the LDS from the same tank as the suspension, but does not stream the return-leak oil back to the main tank, but to the pump head, wich has a retour inlet for the oil retour line. So that oil wich is under hi😮gh pressure and friction for steering al those years, does not really refresh itself if you only empty the LDS tank and refill that one with new LDS. Only way I can imagine is temporary leading the steering system return line straight back to the LDS tank instead of the steering pump head (and block the return inlet on the steering pump(so there does not stream oil out).... Meanwhile with running the engine or by switching on the steering pump on with lexia, and turning the steering wheel right and left, so hopefully you get some oil leak return from the steering installation and that way slowly push new oil through the steering housing

selling my C6.. my son was driving it back to the UK importing taxes in Portugal make UK imports insanely costly .. the L/H shock absorber lost / leaked the LDS fluid and the front suspension went to low . after adding more LDS fluid the ride height returned enough to drive it back to the UK . Not having much luck with my ex dream car.

Hi I have a Citroen C5 2001 my fuse A40 blows. Lower down and up, then the A40 breaks 🤔 Adding a new one comes up. Using A50 now. Can the sensor cause fuse A40 to break ?? The car down to 0, fuse goes up 🤨 Why??? Don't want to change the pump. Could it be other problems??

Автор, не показал две главные вещи. 1. Надо сбросить давление, перед тем как выкручивать металлические трубки, иначе все забрызгает LDS .2. Пока не создашь давление в бочке, компрессором, после того когда жалеешь LDS подвеска работать не будет. Насос не сможет сам закачать и создать давление.

40 amp fuses in were the fuses and electrics are on the right-hand side as looking into the engine bay about 5 inches down in the box closest to the front there is a row of 5 or 6 very large fuses much bigger than normal ,are located try there that's where I found my problem refit a fuse up the suspension came sorted

I own a C6 in Canada. When I used to approach the car, I could hear an electric motor start and the suspension would come up and the car was ready to drive as soon as I got in and the engine started. The car does not rise now and I don't hear the motor when I approach the car. What should I look at first? And what procedure should I follow to get the car up again? Hey Buddy, I have a little problem with my C5 2002, H3 system, it's not as soft as it should be when crossing over small sharp holes on the road, and places where the road is healed by the holes, and it makes some noise when crossing over these, esspecially rear right side... I changed almost everything, rear arm bearings, sillent bloks, new IFHS comfort spheres and still same... I was told at forums from several people that depressurizing system could help, because I changed spheres... any idea..??

my hydraulic fluid loss on my Citroen C6 2007 2.2 diesel . was down to a damaged tank ( almost invisible depression and split .. 30 lb air pressure in a water tank was the only way to locate the leak . and a faulty 1/2 molded small bore rubber pipe pipe .

I’m having some issues with my 2001 c5, there is a humming noise on steering and the suspension raises very slowly from low. Also if a heavy passenger gets in the rear, the rear will not rise to normal ride height. I am thinking the pump is weak and is about to fail. Does this sound correct to you? If so, can get the pump refurbished or is it best to replace with new? Cheers mate

Judging from the problems you listed, you should change the hydraulic suspension pump. Is the hydraulic oil level normal? Did you mix up the oils?

Level is good and no issues with oil mixing. What’s the story on new pumps? How much are they or can old ones be fixed? The motor seems to be running ok on the pump so maybe there are orings or something failing in these?

El módulo electrónico que controla los solenoides necesita programación. Si la bomba es recuperada de otro vehículo no va ha funcionar salvo que intercambies los módulos electrónicos de control o sepas como programar el módulo.
