This is not the same as g37S it's a different process because to not unlosen the caliper bolts because you will leak the fluid an potentially break the seals, but if you have a none sport model this video is correct 👍

What does this even mean? How do I not loosen the caliper bolts? Can someone PLEASE explain
@elmayimbe_the_amateur_mechanic6 ай бұрын
@@drew4931, the caliper is 2 piece most likely and has 4 bolts on it. Only 2 get removed on the caliper and then the 2 larger bracket bolts get removed. I made the mistake today of starting to remove 1 of the 2 bolts that seperate the caliper on half on a Mercedes C300 and fluid leaked out. Finished the job and added brake fluid. Went for a drive and the pedal was soft. Came back and bled that single caliper and then it was fine 😂😂😂

Great video. This is the first how to brake video ive watched. I looked it up after a $1000+ bill on all 4 brakes of my 07 G35. Parts are probably less than $350. I dont know much about cars but im very handy on fixing things. I didnt get understand all the instructions yet but after im done watching this several more times and maybe some other videos I'm sure I should be able to do this in my garage lol

That is one big bill. 🤑 Did they just do all rotors and pads and nothing more? I'm wondering if there maybe was some stuck sliding pins, or maybe they had to replace a caliper 🤷♂️ 1000$ plus seems a bit high

I know I'm a couple years late, but the pads and clips were installed wrong. The hardware with the rabbit ear looking clips(spring clips) go on the top. And on the brake pads, the loop that sticks out goes on the top. Those rabbit ear clips goes into the loops on the pads.
@AutoTechWorld_DIY2 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for watching and thinking along. If you look closely at 4:34 you can see that the longer clips are installed at the top. If that is what you are referring to? As far as the pads go, I guess I did put the loop on the bottom. I did that because that's how they came out, as you can see at 1:48. Maybe you can explain why you think the loop has to be on the top? Does squeal louder you think?
@justhere47212 жыл бұрын
@@AutoTechWorld_DIY The spring clips goes into those loops. They help push the brake pads away from the rotors when you're not braking. It helps reduce wear and noise. They are also a pad wear indicator. When the pad wears down enough, the metal tab touches the rotors causing a screech.

This maybe a stupid question as i dont know much about card but how do you know how to torque the bolts? Does the rachet tell you the exact measurements?

Will putting the grease on the threaded portion of the slide pins change the installation torque of the bolts? Would I be well advised to reduce the tightening torque by about 30% to compensate for the fact that there will be much less friction in the threads?

Great concern. I've never bleed the brakes when doing the pads unless there was air in the system. I never pulled the bleeder screw that any air could enter the system. This way I'm just pushing the fluid back in the resovoir. If this makes sense?
@AutoTechWorld_DIY3 жыл бұрын
That is very right. Otherwise you will not have enough pressure in the system to make the brakes work on the first press. And if you put it in gear and the breaks don't work right away, that could be dangerous. Makes sense?

Is your battery light on in the dash? Check fuse 32 in the fuse block next to the battery, the block that has the horn relay in it. If this fuse is blown, the alternator will not know it is charging and will turn the battery light on and might overcharge. That is one thing you could check. Let me know what you figured out?

Yes that is right. 14mm for the caliper to bracket and 19mm for the bracket to caliper. But install the bracket first, then the caliper. It will be a lot easier. Doesn't matter which one you torque first though. Just make sure you torque them all down.
