Regarding how much to tighten the oil sump pan drain bolt, I have had bad experiences with this type from previous owners who stripped the threads. I use a soft crush washer made of aluminum or copper and tighten the bolt just until it starts to crush. This prevents stripping the threads in the aluminum sump and guarantees a good seal. I've been using this procedure since the 1980's with no problems at all. You can find the crush washers online at a low price per bag. Just be sure to get the correct ID and OD. I always put a new crush washer back on after each drain. Cheap insurance.

At 1:31, the exhaust pipe was magically removed making it super easy to access the oil filter. Good luck to "normal" people for removing that section. Most DIY'ers will be reaching around the exhaust pipe.

Lol, you don't even need to lift these vehicles to do an oil change. Let alone remove an exhaust pipe, I do this all the time and it's super easy. Removed the pipe to give the viewer a better look.

For anyone wanting to do their own oil change. Just fill up your sealed oil filter with oil so that its not dry when you start the car. And youre better off wiping away oil from your engine with a rag than spraying break clean on it and not wiping off the excess, break cleaner does damage to rubber material.

I can't fill my new filter with oil. I have an F150 and the filter is put on sideways. My wife's Escape is put on at an angle like this one.

You should add oil to the filter to reduce engine wear. Also engine should be warm before draining and dont add oil to the max with a cold engine as heat will make it expand more.

I have the same car. 2010 v6 escape. If I use full synthetic oil and a good synthetic filter. Under normal usage no towing or long idling just regular highway commutes to work. How soon should I change my oil??

@@siemdebesay8804 About 7000 miles would be pretty good. Most full synthetics claim to be good for like 10000 miles but i wouldn’t push it

My mechanic recommends 5000miles just to be safe, especially with modern engines with VVT solenoids.

I believe its synthetic BLEND oil and not fill synthetic oil as the owners manual says. Please DO NOT OVER FILL. Go no further that that upper dot if you have to. Its OK yo be by that upper seratted mark too. I used to change my oil every season of the year (4 times a year) for my vehicles in the 1070‘s.

Problem I am having with your video is I can only visually learn and since your camera man is facing towards you makes it impossible for me to figure out where exactly you are and where this damn nut is . Usually they are located beneath the oil pan. I've never changed the oil in a electric Ford for whatever that means . And it's probably 30 degrees with light snow I have no garage to do this in I can't bring it to a mechanic since they would take one look at this thing and what's going on underneath it with all the rust and rigged parts.
