If you have the N-Line version(1.6 turbo), this video is very similar other than the filter drain is a plug and a plastic pin you will need a needle nose pliers. The filter cover is a 24mm and the oil pan plug is still a 17mm. Just under 5 quart capacity.
@SuburbanRedneckGarage5 ай бұрын
Thanks for that! I would love to have an N Line in someday for a change!

Can’t make it any clearer than that. Nice video; good camera positioning. I assume the location of the drain bolt makes it o.k. to keep the front of the vehicle elevated for complete drainage?
@SuburbanRedneckGarage Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I appreciate the comment. Definitely, its at the back of the pan, and if anything the angle with the front tires up helps it drain faster.

On the o ring you just insert it but in no certain area for the tab. Because the plastic cap has a little bow or outer raise on it on outside. Didn't know if tab goes in a certain spot on the cap.
@SuburbanRedneckGarage Жыл бұрын
Yeah the o-ring just goes in, there isn't a particular notch for the lip to go in, its just there to ease in getting it out with pliers or a screwdriver.

Just bought a 23 Elantra. How often do you suggest drain and fill on the trans. I was going to follow the severe service and do every 60k miles.
@SuburbanRedneckGarage Жыл бұрын
Yeah I would recommend every 60k miles. I’ve read on some forums every 30k miles, but if it isn’t acting up you can definitely do it every 60k. I service a Kona and we had to change the CVT fluid at 45k miles because it was shifting funny (slamming/ shudder). After using Amsoil CVT fluid it hasn’t done it since. I’m sure other CVT fluids would work, but Amsoil hasn’t let me down
@robgoss8187 Жыл бұрын
Great thanks for the info. Do you think using amsoil cvt fluid vs Hyundai would void the power train warranty
@SuburbanRedneckGarage Жыл бұрын
Amsoil has its own Warranty if it was denied by Hyundai. Since the CVT oil meets Hyundai specs, there should be no issue, but if there is, and Amsoil fluid caused the failure, Amsoil has a separate warranty for that! Though in the 7 years I’ve been using / selling it, I’ve never seen a failure because of Amsoil.

Do you know the torque spec on the oil filter, I really don’t wanna crack it and when I went snug by hand it leaked a little so I was curious about actual torque spec in ft lbs
@SuburbanRedneckGarageАй бұрын
I believe it to be 7nm, so approx 5 lb ft. That being said, I feel it’s fairly easy to feel when it’s tight, and you’d really have to crank on it to crack it!
@raymondrobinson3353Ай бұрын
@@SuburbanRedneckGarage Everywhere I look I get difference answers the cap says 25Nm on it so about 18ft lbs but that seems crazy I set my torque wrench to 8 ft lbs and tried that and it got pretty tight no click so I left it no leaks so should be fine

Just did this and the stupid plastic filter housing is now leaking oil. Super slow but its there around the upper part where it seats against the engine. I checked the torque and found 11.6ft/lbs online. I torqued it down, it did move just a hair but i hope that did it. ... Ugh why in the world they designed it this way is beyond me. 100% lol. Important to use the right stuff for sure, like the super shallow sockets. I feel a deep socket would allow for some extra movement and could possibly damage it over time. Who’s knows though, but plastic is always scary lol
