If you have a 4wd or even 2wd. Disconnect everything holding the lines in place. Get the two lines from the radiator and drop them to the floor. Go under the front of the vehicle and slowly twist and pull the lines to the FRONT of the vehicle. It will come out with ease. Install the new lines by pushing the block part through the front. Make sure to push the 2 front lines up before getting the block all the way through. Bolt everything back in. Make sure to remove the splash/skid guard and jack up the front of the truck.

just did this on my fathers truck today. Ended up just taking the bolts out the engine mount and lifting the engine with a jack about 1/2 inch and sliding it forward. was real easy once we figured that it out.

Its a few ways to do this. Some people find different strategies along the way that best fit them

i know im late to the party. But also good to know is that the Ecotec3 engines (4.3, 5.3, and 6.2) all burn oil due to the AFM DoD (cylinder deactivation). Im not talking a little either. Just figured I would mention that.

I just did mine on a 2014 5.3L, 4WD. After much trial and error here’s how I got mine out and how I’ll route the new one: - Remove (4) bolts holding front driveshaft to the front diff - Lower driveshaft down and let rest - Lift drivers side - Remove Driver side wheel - Remove inner fender - Remove Plate on drivers side below front diff - Put floor Jack with a board under the seam of the front diff. Jack just to hold in place - Remove 2 nuts from front diff where it mounts to the frame - Slowly lower front diff - Now twist the oil lines and rear block out the FRONT.

Man I wish I read this comment, I expressed many f bombs changing mine out this weekend. I dropped the driveshaft and somehow got it routed through, but what a bitch
@HaRdKn0cKzKiD Жыл бұрын
I was about to do this. Instead i dropped the front two lines to the floor and started rotating everything while pulling to the front. It came out with ease. I didn’t have to take anything off besides the clips and screws holding the lines in. Mine is 4wd
@sschme8382 Жыл бұрын
2014 Silverado 5.3L 4WD as well. I loosened the two driver's side front diff mounting bolts by bringing the nuts as far down as possible without taking them off. This required an 8mm socket to keep the bolt from spinning than I used a box wrench to work the nut loose. This dropped the front diff just enough to pull the cooler line square block towards the FRONT of the vehicle and out. You have to twist it a certain way to get the block thru. This reduced the total number of steps described above. I installed the new line assembly feeding the square block FRONT to back. Godspeed, what a bitch.
@ScottH-dw4rh Жыл бұрын
@@HaRdKn0cKzKiDwhy didn’t y’all just cut off the “block” end that attached at the oil filter. You are changing it out after all so why not cut off the large part and don’t deal with the pulling it out. Pretty simple really Y’all doing too much.
@HaRdKn0cKzKiD Жыл бұрын
because you still had to fish the new lines through. i rather scrape up the old lines trying to figure out how to take it out rather than damage the new lines trying to figure out how to get them in.@@ScottH-dw4rh

I just had the misfortune to do this on my truck. It was impossible to snake the lines through on the 4 wheel drive model. I had to made a choice to drop the front drive chain or bend the tubing to get the 90 degree bends are gone. I choose to bend the tubing and then re-bend it once I get it through. Even with this I had to pull the front drive shaft.

Good work. Factory service manual tells you drop the front axle a little to make routing the lines in/out easier. Those new lines will probably be leaking in the same spot soon enough.

@Bird-dl7xs3 жыл бұрын
I can totally agree from personal experience. Cut the old one out. And then put the new one in while swearing and praying. And then thought I was going to have to take it the shop to have it finished up. But after a lot of swear words, I got it.
