Nice vid! I love the kid raising Hell while you're trying to work... I've always used grease on the races as I drive them in, but apparently it isn't necessary. I have found that a bit of grease on the inside of the seal, next to the spring, can keep the spring in place as you hammer it in. I've seen them jump out sometimes.

I have a 944 S2. Where the cv axel connects to the wheel one of the bolts are stripped and will not tighten all the way. Will I be able to replace that part with the part from the base model. I forgot what it was called, the hub maybe?
@vsvenson7 жыл бұрын
I think you'll need to replace it with an '87+ turbo (or S2) stub axle - but I'm not 100% positive.

Hi Van, I don't have access to a blow torch, would putting the hubs in the oven work as well?
@vsvenson7 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. Or you could even heat them up on a hotplate.

Does anybody know the bearings size for 944 front and rear wheels? And seal type? P.S. Van, good day! I'm starting to rebuild my late 85 porsche 944. Your resource is a HUGE help. I'm in love with your simple yet very systematic approach. THANK YOU! Greeting from Moscow!

Early offset cars (through '86) have different size front bearings and seals than the late offset cars ('87 and later). The rear wheel bearings are different for the steel control arms and the aluminum control arms (change over in mid '85). Looks on a website like Pelican or Paragon to find the actual sizes.

You should use wheel bearing grease, not "multi-purpose" "chassis" grease.
