Also don’t forget to take the cap off your fluid reservoir so when you push down the caliper it doesn’t build pressure and bust your line. I would also bleed the brakes afterwards. Great job brother 👍🏻

I had to turn back the parking adjustment bolt for the piston to seat all the way down or you don't have enough gap for the new brakes. Just in case anyone has the same problem.
@GEORGEFIRE777
@GEORGEFIRE777 3 жыл бұрын
The bolt that sets the gap is in the rear brake caliper ,its goes through the arm that the cable hooks on to at the rear calipers ,if you don't back thease out then there is a good chance you won't get the pads to fit in.

Alex Perron Caliper piston not going all the way back? Have you added brake fluid in past?
@GEORGEFIRE777
@GEORGEFIRE777 3 жыл бұрын
@@TeamWaxOffroad Crack the brake bleeder screw a little when using the C clamp to push the piston back, letting excess fluid out,also the adjuster bolt for the parking brake may need to be backed out a turn if the piston wont go back all the way, when fully back the piston should be almost flush with the caliper housing. FYI enjoyed the video ,just a few more hints.

Good job! Was just replacing my pads on my 400ex and ran into a snag. Seems I let the bike sit to long with bad pads, like yours. Honestly it sat a couple years allowing one or both of the seals behind the piston in the caliper to swell up from brake fluid exposure, now the piston that pushes the pads won't retract all the way. Just throwing this out there cause there might be others with this issue.
@TeamWaxOffroad
@TeamWaxOffroad 3 жыл бұрын
Yep that happened on my front brake calipers. Gotta get them to unfreeze or it will stay stuck like that.
@GEORGEFIRE777
@GEORGEFIRE777 3 жыл бұрын
the seal behind the caliper pistons is made to run in brake fluid ,it is possible that corrosion of the outer part of the piston is causing it to be stuck, but most likely because your saying it wont retract all the way is the park brake adjuster bolt is in to compensate for the pads wear, it will not let the piston go back far enough to put the new pads in ,so back out this adjuster bolt a turn or so an then retry the c clamp to push the piston back. also it helps to crack the brake bleeder to let out excess brake fluid that is in the caliper . when the piston is in all the way in it is almost flush with the caliper housing. FYI

I don't think so pal. You didn't pay any attention to the sliding pin. You have to grease those every time. And you need to check your threads. Apply grease or anti-seize. And you should not buy cheapo brake pads. Sometimes they come way too thick. Research and educate yourselves better. You call yourselves a team. You cannot be part of a team if you cannot all come together and check every step in a procedure as simple as this.

do not use grease on the pins it only attracts dirt. use a little brake fluid an the wash off extra, if you would read the stated problem it says the caliper piston is not pushing the pads in ,if the pads are in an the caliper piston is not pushing the pads ,it is not a pad or pin issue but something else like ,a frozen piston or air in the system,your thinking is not right or wrong just short of knowledge.
