Is it really necessary to jack up the swing arm when installing? I was able to seat both the top and lower portions of the shock without jacking the arm.

The tightening torque is WRONG Bottom strut nut should be tightened to 38Nm. Bottom strut carrier to swing arm is tightened to 60Nm. And one important missing info: upper strut mount should be tightened to 27Nm.

You are absolutely right, in practice it is a must to use a torque wrench and observe the appropriate tightening torques.

The shock seems to be stuck and won’t go into the lower control arm. So I can’t get the bottom bolt on. Any suggestions?

Thank you for the feedback! If there are difficulties during disassembly, in order to avoid more serious breaking, it is better to visit a specialized car service center , which has professional equipment for car maintenance. Best regards, Autodoc.

Allstar2700 most videos show you installing the shock in reverse order from this video. They lack the compression tool. So they place it in the bottom and bolt it in first on the bottom, squeeze/compress it a bit by hand first, install the bottom and then you guide it into the top hole as it is slowly expanding. He has all the tools no lay person has.

autodoc.co.uk that’s the worst answer you could give. Autodoc sells parts to people so they can fix it themselves, why would you recommend him to go to an authorised mechanic
