Thank you alot for this video ! I watched other videos but nobody gave a good descriptive. Review of easily getting to the plugs i was about to over-do it by removing the intake manifold and throttke body but then you showed it being a quick easy process by just removing the throttle body and do a little bit of clean up 👍👍… my pops was a master tech and even though I watched him do some jobs and helped him, I didnt get enough practice in while he was here so seeing your content and already having the tools and some knowledge makes me more confident to do some jobs myself I appreciatr bro! Especially since now Im a jz engine Owner now

Thanks for the great video. Just a note, the orange around the plugs is not from spark. Yes damaged boots are a common cause for misfire but not from the lower end of the plug boot, it’s boot damage near the plug tip that causes this. The white on a plug is ceramic insulator, so no path for current near the area of discoloration. The orange is most likely from oil spillage in the plug wells or an interaction with the silicon boot.

the orange on the plugs is rust from the electrode inside. It’s just from moisture. Easy if is dielectric grease in the spark plug boot

What do you exactly mean by that ? Doble ground
@HOTRODRICO2 жыл бұрын
@@shawn_built9638 he means the platinum +2 spark plugs that have the two ground electrodes instead of one, which "technically" are the ones they use OEM
@HOTRODRICO2 жыл бұрын
@@shawn_built9638 and by double ground just to be clear, that's the technical name for the arching part of the spark plug you adjust (bend) when you're setting the spark plug gaps, that part of the spark plug is called the "ground electrode"... peace

Yo Shawn, tried doing the spark plugs on my is300 and when I turned it on it just sounded like it was running on 2 cylinders bro 😅. Got like 4 codes on the car even the check engine light was flashing ☹️. I’m really new to this type of stuff but really want to learn, kinda sad now and feel like taking it to Toyota or something.

HI, i GOT A is300 lexus, replace ignition coil 1 (on the fire wall) and spark plug. and when driving gives me a clunk noise and trouse a code P0351 and after a while it goes away. "I have not change the spark wires" you think that would be a reason code comes back off and on?

Question Re 1 coil pack powering 2 spark plugs. I would think if a car has 6 spark plugs there would be 6 wires, not 3. I need a diagram of how electricity travels from the battery to the ? to the coil to the sparks. Anyone care to explain?

I watched this video about 50 times, I’m doing my coils n plugs rn and it oil on coil boots and on top of the plugs, but no oil/dry in the “gallery”, and I only have a random misfire at idle or under load at low rpm. My question is, is the boots being worn my problem of or what Also 1 of my plugs has that orange line on it, I still have to take the rest out bc I started doing them before I went to work thx for the help🖤
@shawn_built96383 жыл бұрын

Mechanic tells me a bad valve cover gasket will be the cause of oil getting into the coil/spark gallery and damage these parts. Solution: replace coils, sparks, wires, and the gasket!

If you bought aftermarket sparks plug and coils, that’s the problem. Usually go with oem, which is DENSO(Toyota oem manufacturer).
