ayy bro when you first realized it was bad, was the bike intermittently starting? that is the issue Ive come to on my 08 gsxr 600.

Actually. Intermittently the bike would run and idle great. It’s when I would take it for a ride it would randomly shut off and that’s the issue I was having. I have found the two causes. In the front of my bike there is a big connector of wires and a small wiring harness that runs through the dash, key switch, kill switch, head light and blinkers. It’s up on the left side by the triple clamp is where I found mine. The harness and cut and knicked wires and a bad soder job. I replaced the harness off eBay and it only cost me 29$. Second problem was my kick stand switch. The tab that is on the kick stand was bent away from the switch so it would not push the switch in all the way when in the up position. Bent the tab back and it fixed the issue. Keep it simple. Look over all your wiring. If there’s any knicks or bad connections. Replace or fix perfectly. Gotta have a good base on these GSXRs electrically or they have problems forever. Goodluck. Let me know what you find out. 👍

Bike only starts with popping the clutch out of second or jump starting from the starter relay soilinoid. When i press starter button no sound at all and headlights dont work anymore comes on when it wants to. Any ideas? Battery is good starter is replaced and good starter relay good.

No sound at the starter solenoid when start button is pushed is a sign something doesn’t bridge correctly. I’d start by testing battery voltage. Gotta have 12.6 or higher at the battery. Then I would take a test light and unplug the starter button switch and I would see if I had power at the switch. Then I would Ohm the starter button itself. This checks for continuity through the switch when the button is pressed. So press the button and test it. Should be like 3 ohms or less. If that all checks out. 1. Good battery voltage. 2. Power at the starter button. 3. Start button works good and has continuity. Then go to the solenoid and check you don’t have a blown fuse there. Soemtimes they have a 15 amp fuse on the starter relay incase the relay sticks down it burns through a fuse and your bike won’t crank and not be able to shut off. It’s a fail safe. Check the fuse. Replace if needed. If the fuse is okay. Make sure you have power at the hot side of the solenoid and good path to the starter on the other side. The starter will ground through the body to the chassis. If that’s all good. Make sure your signal wires are intact. This tells the relay to “click” into action when you press the start button. Make sure they aren’t damaged or broken. And that they are clean and pressed in all the way. To test if the signal wire is working. Unplug it from the relay. Take the red multimeter lead and put it to the connector of the wire. And take your black lead and put it on any clean polished bolt on the motor or a clean ground surface. And hit the button. You should see voltage appear on the multimeter when the button is pressed. Let me know if that helps. 👍 Goodluck.
