Hi bud, that's really made my day . Glad you got sorted. Everyone is a newbie at some stage, no shame in that. KZbin is a great resource for learning. Keep tinkering away and ride safe. 👍😎

I wish I came across this sooner, I thought my clutch cable was snapped, replaced that, nothing worked until I had to dig a little deeper then came across this video. The switch had been worn down the lever wasn’t contacting it at all, now I just have it in the on position till I get a new one.

This is a realy nice trick. Had to use it myself a couple of years ago when my bikes clutch lever broke on the road, but i fixed it when I got home. I was just wondering, after discussing this with my friends a while back. Is the switches existance only for ensurance that the bike is started with two hands, or does it do anything else also? For reference, we had to do this to my friends R1 because he changed to a stunt lever, and it didnt have a place for the switch. But noticed soon after that the bike didnt run well on the road. My friend pulled of the bypass wire mid drive and noticed an increase in power and torque right on the spot. The R1 is a 2007, so could be alot different, just saying/asking. 🙂

Hi, thanks for stopping by. Most likely the problem is the fact that the R1 is fuel injection. I briefly mentioned at the end of the video that the clutch switch mod only works on carburetted bikes. The ICU on the R7 will be huffing and the mapping will be off. Not sure how you could sort it. Maybe fit a small toggle switch on the handlebars and connect the clutch switch wires to that. Then manually flick the switch before starting. Just an idea. Good luck. 😎

@@johnsnowsghost thanks for the help, but we have already fixed the R1 porblem with a push button :) I just wanted to check this with the Bandit. I myself have a 1157cc 2002 model i want to do this on because of a switch malfunction, not to serious, just alitle anoying. So thanks for the anwser :)

What year is your bike? Where did you get the shorty clutch lever?
@johnsnowsghost3 жыл бұрын
Hi Skyler, The bike is a 1999 model. The levers were on it when I bought it, but I have seen them for sale on Ebay . Cheers.👍

Thats a mk2 not 1
@johnsnowsghost Жыл бұрын
Hello Ratty, Although technically correct, there are no significant differences between MK 1 and MK2 so the mod is still relevant. In my experience most people consider them the same and refer to the 2001 model as the MK 2 which had a major revamp. 😎
