How to change the back-up battery for a Honeywell Vista panel

Holy moses! After HOURS of internet searching on how to get the middle-of-the-night and all-hours-of-the-day, "low battery" beep-fests to stop, and exploring hiring someone with a blowtorch to come get my locked one open so I could remove the battery (mine's not armed), you said the magic words: "The key will be on top of the box." YOU. ARE. MY. HERO!!!

Thanks for your clear and instructive video. I am looking at a MIGHTY MAX BATTERY 12-Volt 7 Ah Sealed Lead Acid (SLA) Rechargeable Battery replacement from Home Depot for my Ademco security panel. In the video it doesn't look like there is danger of shock when handling the red and black connecting wires.

Question: I have a Vista 10se. I have no idea if it works so I’m thinking of connecting the battery and wiring a siren and a detector to see if it activates. If I don’t use a Vista Keypad while testing what would happen?

I replaced my battery on the control unit not too long ago but now been a few weeks my Vista10 panel shows Batt light lit and won't let us arm the system. Do we need to try to replace with another battery?

Check the battery voltage connected and with the black off. If you see 13+ connected and below 12 disconnected I would try another battery. If the voltage doesn’t rise connected you may need a new panel...

Make sure your front door is closed and it should clear. If not and it’s a wireless door contact change the battery. If that doesn’t work call for service.
