Yes I know how simple it is. Got to thank Hornby for this clever design.

Absolutely, I think it was a worry for some people when it was more of an unknown really. I agree, Hornby have really made this easy to do so it's obvious they've realised that it won't just be expert modellers handling these coaches. Thanks for watching 😃

Thanks for this - looks really easy. Must admit I'm getting tempted by these generic coaches.

No problem, yeah it's definitely one of the easiest models to get into by far. I'm not surprised you're tempted - they are good looking and I suspect Hornby will run with these for years! Thanks for watching 😃

Sorry to hear that mate. But yes, it shows that Hornby have realised that a wide range of people with different abilities and needs will still want to keep the lights working. Hope your coaches arrive soon and thanks for watching 😃

Once again a very informative video! Due to brexit I had to postpone my purchase of these coaches, really a shame. I hope to find them in an European shop later on. But keep the how-to's and reviews coming please! 😊

Great video and thanks for doing these video That Model Railway Guy. One question want having if want to make 6 wheel coaches down to me bigger 4 wheels now easy it to take out the centre wheelset on a 6 wheel coaches and removable it on the Hornby one? That Model Railway Guy in these hard times.
@ThatModelRailwayGuy
@ThatModelRailwayGuy 3 жыл бұрын
I don't think Hornby have designed the centre wheelset to be removable on the 6 wheel coaches but I'm sure if you're dedicated you could find a way to remove it. If that's a feature you want then the Hattons coaches are likely to be a better fit as they have that as part of their design. Thanks for watching 😃

@@ThatModelRailwayGuy Thanks for the information. I don't want to break the Hornby model it would be nice if it was a feature because there I would go from NBR Hornby. Only one wants I looking at it Lnwr 3rd,1St coach with light. From Hatton, I'm looking at NCB as got them on pre-order. These are want to get two but waiting for the Oxford Rail 2021 future announcements. If there don't wow me I will order Hattons Batch 1 (LNWR livery ) Batch 2 (L&YR , Midland Railway ) Batch 3(Metropolitan Railway , SDJR) Will ask mum, if have some for my birthday want in may. But the Hatton one is planning to come out around April 2021 & June 2021. But keep safe @That Model Railway Guy in these hard times.

I've just had to change batteries in 2 of my 3 lit LBSCR carriages. After I initially tested them I boxed them back up for safe storage. The magnets in the bottom of 2 packs switched on the lights of the carriage in the box beneath them & flattened the batteries. I now store the magnets elsewhere.
@ThatModelRailwayGuy
@ThatModelRailwayGuy 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing that Jonny. I have to admit I don't use the Hornby magnets much with mine as I usually have a magnetic pole I made for removing coal loads from wagons on hand instead. But good to know for anyone who is thinking about boxing them up at some point. Thanks for watching 😃

This concept of using a magnetic switching function is a great idea. I will be looking at adding lighting to a longer coach (Hawksworth). Do you know if I can simply wire in an additional length of Hornby strip lighting in series and power the entire length from the one switch?
@ThatModelRailwayGuy
@ThatModelRailwayGuy 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Richard, I think that would work but I'm not sure to be honest as I've never tried it with the Hornby lights. I would suggest having a look at Layouts4u.net - they have very similar battery operated LED strips which are a bit longer for standard coach lengths. Hope that helps and thanks for watching 😃

I saw a comment from another you tube channel that with sound fitted loco's the magnets in the speakers were inadvertently turning on/off the lights in coaches as they passed by. Any thoughts?
@ThatModelRailwayGuy
@ThatModelRailwayGuy 3 жыл бұрын
I don't have any sound fitted locos so I can't speak from personal experience here, however I was under the impression that magnets for triggering sound were usually embedded into the track. If that is indeed the case then it shouldn't be a problem for these coaches as the reed switch is in the roof and you have to get the magnet quite close to activate it. Thanks for watching 😃

I'm wanting to install some lights into a 6 wheel Hornby coach like the one in the video but noticed the battery compartment is set into the bottom of the coach housing. How is this attached? Has it got an adhesive backing?
@ThatModelRailwayGuy
@ThatModelRailwayGuy Жыл бұрын
As you can see in the video it's just held in by friction. The battery holder slots in underneath the interior and when the chassis is clipped back on it's sandwiched between the two, so no need for any adhesive. Hope that helps and thanks for watching 😃

@@ThatModelRailwayGuy Arh ok so just sits in the gap basically. Will have a good at it and get the light strip. Does the actual light strip have adhesive on?

Can you try how to use a Hornby Train without standard power track
@ThatModelRailwayGuy
@ThatModelRailwayGuy 3 жыл бұрын
You mean like converting a loco to run on battery power? Maybe, I'm sure it's possible, fitting a battery wouldn't be too hard but figuring out a way to control it would be another story. Might be one to think about for the future. Thanks for watching 😃
