Rechargeable batteries will eventually degrade to the point that they will no longer hold a charge. I found this video while trying to figure out how to actually replace the rechargeable battery. Thank you for this complete waste of my time.

Duh! This is NOT the 1st generation remote; it's the 2nd. The 1st Generation Remote is silver and slim and "does" have a place to replace the battery.
