Rotor Screw 4 Nm Caliper Pin 30 Nm Caliper Bolt 200 Nm Wheel Lug Nut 140 Nm The caliper tension bracket can easily be reinstalled by using a rubber mallet to hold one side in place while using a long nose plier to flex it back in position. The B7 Passat is know to have a transmission solenoid failure, located in the valve body. The fuel pump and fuel pump control module are also know to fail every 90k miles or so. Not all too difficult to be replace. Most people fail to realize there is a fill plug at the front and at the top of the transmission. Good job on the video 🍻

Nice video - thanks for taking the time to produce it! as others have stated, I'm a little surprised at no grease on the pins, will have to take a really good look at if it's used OEM when I do mine in a few mins (2015 Passat TDI). THANKS AGAIN! 👍😊 EDIT 1 - my hex set didn't have a 7mm for some reason... Used a T47 Instead... Fit great!

Thanks. I've tried to explain every single step. The anti-rattle clips (at around 8:29 in the video) will probably be the most difficult part. If it is your first time, it will take a little time to get that clip in place.

Take your time. I haven't worked on any of my vehicles in years so I'm a bit out of practice. Wasn't really paying attention and stripped my bracket ( 3:50 ). Now the money I was going to save doing it myself I have to spend on a $300 piece of metal.

Good advice.

great advice for sure. Stripped threads are the enemy of mechanics. It's always best to run bolts in with your fingers first to make sure there is no resistance.
@daeladub2 жыл бұрын
@@Ken-1 I got a new bracket and bolt. The bolt would start but I couldn't hand tighten it. Took it back to the dealership and the tech told me I would have to use a wrench or ratchet so I had him do it and it went right in. When I got home I put it on with no problems so I guess it just needed that first screw through to loosen things up a bit.

Thanks for the video. It is appreciated. Always, always, use proper torque to tighten all brake system bolts and pins. Do not rely on feel. There are torque specs, use them. They exist for very good reasons, such as function and overall, safety. You will need to buy or borrow a torque wrench. Also, in the least, you need to "bleed" both front calipers, ensuring that any air in the brake fluid is forced out. Air in the brake lines will make the pedal feel soft and/or squishy. That is because air is compressible, and does not need to be in the system. That video could also be added to this video, for a more complete job.

Thanks for this. I wish I had seen this before taking my 2015 Passat TDI to the dealer for a $1300 brake job. One question if I may, When I look at the front pads they do not look like that are touching the rotor closest to the axel. Is this normal? Are the pads wedged shaped to begin with?
@OEMEangg5 ай бұрын
Both inner and outer pads don't really touch the rotor. It is supposed to slide a little. The pads will squeeze together when you step on the brake. Hope that answer your question.

jealous of the Hella-PAGID pads - those are porsche quality... but how come no shims on your model? as a RULE, I always pressure bleed with new fluid until the clean/clear is coming out - and ive never had to rebuild a car caliper in 40 years. Actually, its recommended every 2 years to pressure bleed (prestone dot 4 synthetic is dope good enough) all your lines since moisture from the air and rain get into fluid and ruin it over time. you will get much better braking too- like 2x new pads. you need a 2nd person to pressure bleed, and my wife has even learn the routine now - alternative is to vacuum bleed, which can help get air out of lines better, but either way you NEED TO BLEED out the old until new comes through !!!!

Thank you for the video. Why did you open a break reservoir?
@OEMEangg Жыл бұрын
When you compress the piston, brake fluid will flow up the reservoir. That is why every time you install new pads, the fluid level will move from low to full or it might even overflow.

Love the video! I'm replacing the rear rotors and pads as well. Is it generally the same process?
@OEMEangg4 жыл бұрын
I don't work on VW that often. In some cars, the rear brakes are slightly different. You might have to turn or spin the pistons. I have a few videos where I work on the rear brakes.
@jackhazz57773 жыл бұрын
If you change the brake pads, its generally easy but you need a specialty tool to compresss pistons...its not the usual push it in, you have to place that tool in the grooves and rotate to compress. Replacing the rotos, now, that will be a challenge since there will be a lot of parts in the way to get the caliper bolt off....

It was actually completed the same day. There was some retakes in the video. I had the owner of the car do the work. It was his first time working on it, so it took a lot longer. He got stuck a couple of times, but I think anyone can do it.

From what I can recall, the R Line is an appearance package for VW. The brakes should be the same.
@edgardobeltran7763 жыл бұрын
Is it the same for 2016 vw Passat rline
@mmaviator223 жыл бұрын
Most brakes are very similar. The only difference is the rear alot of times have a wind back style which you need a special tool to turn back and some of the newer cars are coming with electronic parking brakes so you need a scan tool that has that capability to retract the rear pistons on those newer models. Other than that the only difference is some rotors have set screws while some dont. I recommend getting an impact driver especially if you are going to do hondas.
@nickforeman70583 жыл бұрын
Are the brakes in the back the same?
@OEMEangg3 жыл бұрын
Rear brakes are slightly different because it has the parking brake connected. On most cars, you would have to rotate the pistons.

Why do we need to open the brake reservoir??
@OEMEangg2 жыл бұрын
When you compress the pistons, the brake fluid will get push up the reservoir. IF you have too much fluid, it will overflow. IF the reservoir is full, the piston will not compress. Some people use open the bleeder screw.

Did your pedal stiffen up? Everytime I do this I pump the brakes before I turn it on and then some while it's sitting and get a super stiff pedal. First time I use the brakes while moving the pedal goes halfway down before it does anything!?
