Priming one of these is very simple. You put the two pipes on, they only fit one way, but the feed from the tank with the rubber squeeze bulb, goes onto the pipe on the top pointing up and the fuel line to the engine goes on the one pointing horizontal...like at the engine. So there will be air in the system, so you undo the bleed screw at the back of the top WITH THE FUEL FILTER HOUSING REMOVED FROM THE HOLDER ON THE BODYWORK OTHERWISE YOU CANT GET AT IT OR PUT A PIPE ON IT. but dont worry the pipes are very robust, (there are two bleed screws on this one at the bottom to empty the filter housing when changing it and one on the top of the housing for bleeding the air opposite the fuel line to high pressure pump attatchment pipe pointing horizontally) So we turn the bleed valve only til something comes out, maybe 1 turn or less and pump the bulb til only fuel is coming out of the bleed valve, maybe 10 or 12 pumps at most, then close the bleed valve tight and put the filter housing back into the holder on the bodywork then pump the bulb a bit more til it becomes hard so its hard to pump it anymore, but beware the bulbs have a tendency to die of old age and may not work also (When the engine is running it will be rock hard), then you are up to pressure on the low pressure side... These have a low and high pressure side. so from the tank to the filter to the pump is low pressure, the line from the fuel filter to the high pressure pump feeds the pump now filtered fuel where it gets highly pressurised by the pump and fed into the common fuel rail with the fuel pressure sensor (also a well known point ot failure and a massive ball ache to get off. dont ask how I know or how I know all this as I've jsut done it all.) and then fed at high pressure into the injectors with the little plastic pipes clipped on the top of the injector returning unused fuel back to the tank via the return line...

Helpful video, thanks. How to remove the housing itself? It seems there is some sort of clamp behind it, but I don't get the housing removed so far...

Thanks, filter is contained inside of the housing with lid that attaches (pipe/wire) and the entire thing then clips onto the side inner wheel arch if I remember correctly it was 5 years ago just be careful when removing plastic parts in case they are brittle.

The small seal goes under the head of the through bolt holding the filter housing cap on. It doesn't ever seem to leak from there, but hey, more new bits = more good.

What do you do if my model doesn’t have a small pump to purge the air out of the system?? I changed my filter and now I’m stuck.. because I can’t purge this air bubble 😅

you can buy a air purger little hand pump that goes onto the quick connects either end, or fill the filter with some diesel switch ignition on let it prime and try again

Do I need to depressurise before disconnecting hoses ?

there will be some pressure in the lines leading to the fuel filter but not pump pressure as it's turned off, so just disconnect and connect back up, you can also prime the filter with some diesel/button too. Then turn ignition on/off several times to bleed the air out and start, hope that helps.

Hiya mate. I've done this as well you have shown. Still appears to air bubbles in the out hose. Any ideas. I've tried it a few time. Also can I over bleed the pump if u get me??thanks a mill

Ok guys so i changed filter and ni start. So i bled filter housing until fuel came out then closed bleed screw. Then i pumped the baloon until it got hard and i kept squeezing it as my mate turned d engine and after a few goes she started. Thanks for video

@@DanielJohnHowTo well actually you are correct but i was helping a mate on his van and he was not able to get it going because he just wasnt priming it enough. He was just pumping baloon a few times with no result. I explained that it shud b pumped until air is expelled and then pumped until balloon is hard and i kept pumping until it fired up. My mate thinks he knows everything and even still wouldnt admit that he failed. Oh well. But your video helped

No need for all the stripping , just take out the torx bolt at centre ,disconnect fuel line and sensor and lift top of assembly off. it off. takes 5 mins

its great but you skip parts and ive been at it for hours and it wont start priming wont work, there are no ther videos or where the priming srew or something is on the pump,

In that case, prime then turn ignition on 3-4 times and let fuel pump run then try to start, sounds like there's air in the system.

@@DanielJohnHowTo thanks the primer doesn't work , it doesn't matter what you do, there is something else wrong with this turd of a van that never has one thing that works and not tampered with , I've tried adding tubes , the only way last time was to jam a compressor into fuel cap inlet , I may have have to crack injectors the whole thing , I don't have those tools here , can't believe the , pain just from changing the filter,. My van is cursed

My master wont run properly, I changed my fuel filter got it started but the engine shuts out after driving for about 15 minutes slowing down and not getting the fuel across to the engine I believe can you please describe this. Thanks heaps Russell

also you bleed it from the top one at the back as the bottom one is just for emptying it...air is at the top not the bottom but you can move it about with the pipes on it, but where they put the bleed valve on the top is like many things renault...crap design...
