The video has B plus but , he did not explain there are 3 screw that hold the PCM to the fire wall, the one at the left below is a little difficult.

Can you put different year PCM into different year Jeeps like a 1995 or 1996 PCM into a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Yes you can. As long as connections and fuel to air ratio is the same

When installing a new or use one does it have to be from a 4.0 jeep or can it be from a 5.2 grand Cherokee?

Yes, it has to be identical and from a 4.0l

I have a 93, exchanged it with a 96 it wouldn't start. Installed a 95 ecu in it wouldn't start. Put another 95 ecu in now it does start and I've been driving. I wad puzzled as to why one 95 ecu wouldn't even start it but the other 95 ecu would and drivable. The only difference i know between the two is the one that would start my 93 jeep Grand Cherokee has an early date on the sticker (03/16/95 abd the one that won't even start it up has a sticker date of (05/17/95), BOTH I got out of a bone yard. I assumed it had something to do with the dates being that the earlier date of March is closer to my 93 jeep. However during the time i operated it with the 95 ecu i had no speedometer readings, no cruise control, no shifting, check engine light when approaching 40mph, rough idleing and no vehicle information center operation and deduced that i had a different year eci into my 93 jeep. Now i just got a 93 eci with a (02/23/93) but now it won't even start again like the later years 95 and 96. I'm reduced to reinstalling the March 95 date ecu to at least drive with issues. So what is my issue?

I think you will have to Verify Compatibility: Ensure the replacement PCM is compatible with your vehicle's specific engine and transmission. Plus Inspect for Codes: Use a diagnostic scanner to check for error codes that might indicate whats going on with your jeep

So I keep failing alternator tests with voltage regulator fail.. so the battery is new and the alternator is new so it's gotta be coming from the ecm.

Thanks for the comment Steve Stewart. I don’t think is your pcm. Check your fuses and wiring harness for broken wires or shorts. And make sure the main ground wire to the motor and battery pole are connected properly.

L vic: cuanto Cuesta una nueva?? Tengo un 01 WJ JEEP y a veces no quiere prender. SI sirve El motor de arranque y da vuelta pero como que no tiene gas. Tiene: Nueva bomba de gas Crank position sensor IAC sensor MAP sensor Spark plugs Coil pack CAM SENSOR Cuando esta fria prende Al llavazo, pero despues tarda. Creo que es la computer. Alguna idea??

@@GabrielaHernandez-os7hj Disculpa Gabriel hasta ahorita recibí tu comentario. Si la arregle : Cambie IAC valve y crank position sensor por unos de fábrica mopar . prende mucho mejor . y hasta ahora no a fallado . Buena suerte .

My husband changed out Pcm on our 1996 Jeep Cherokee but did not unhook the battery before doing so, can this cause any problems?

Not really, if he's careful enough it won't create any problems.It's easy to have negative and possitive connections meet and touch together creating other issues such as burning out other components while battery is connected.

I have a 96 jeep its not working well. It doesn't turn on and when it was working it has trouble starting. Can it be the computer? Or a sensor?

Ali Saucedo I don't think it's the computer. Is it turning over? If it is, and not starting then you should check to see if there is spark from ignition coil . If there is spark, then check fuel pressure at the rail. If you did all of the obove and they're good. Check the ignition pick up sensor located under the distributor cap and crank position sensor located on the bell housing..

Len Vic ok so I took it to an electric and he said that it was the computer but then he said that it was a sensor but now again he's saying that it's the computer. He had it for about a week and he was alternating between those 2. My question is if it's the computer and I buy a another one and switch them, do I have to reprogram the car?

If the computer is identical you don't have to reprogram anything.

Ali Saucedo I think you have a bad cps /crank position sensor located on the bell housing. Check that sensor out make sure its working properly. .

Brian The jeep was shutting off randomly while driving or idling. So i did some research and some troubleshooting, it leads me to the Pcm. Now it works great..
