Hi RB Will pulling down on the lower control arm with a pry bar give you enough downward movement on the strut tower to just pull it to the side to give you the space to remove the upper control arm side bolts thus avoiding the need to remove the 17mm on the bottom wishbone?

Nope

@@RBTheMechanicOk it's just these guys had a go an I wondered if it could be applied kzbin.info/www/bejne/fqK9iKFjqMhqnMk kzbin.info/www/bejne/mabai6Wol5x6p5I thanks for coming back. Any reason why it wouldn't work on the mk8 cu2

It’s and even easier job if you take the entire strut out just avoid buying cheap rock auto parts or you’ll have to do it again within a year I learned my lesson lol. And don’t over tighten the upper control arm bolts I made that mistake also and stripped out the nut and the bolt and had to attach another nut behind the existing welded bolt on the body and order new bolts. The most recent upper control arm I bought was from Napa and so far it’s good and it has a grease fitting on the ball joint which makes the ball joint last longer since you can grease it as needed

@RBTheMechanic2 жыл бұрын
It will make noise when hitting bumps tire will have play
@bigt8699 Жыл бұрын
Great video bro, do you use the same pin for the ball joint and do I need torque settings for any bolts/nuts?
@RBTheMechanic Жыл бұрын
Best would be torque and I’m not sure if it was same pin

Will replacing these along with ball joints and tie rods mess with the alignment at all? Thanks.
@RBTheMechanic2 жыл бұрын
Yes tie rod especially will throw off alignment
@garystewart73222 жыл бұрын
@@RBTheMechanic Is there a specific way to install the new tie rod so as to NOT throw off the alignment? Or will it throw off the alignment no matter what?

Hey, i have a 2008 honda accord and the code reading is "PO420". Car have a slight smell after driving and it smokes, loses power when trying to accelerate, had my Cat replaced May of last year bc it was red orange and smoking,. I took it back to who fixed it and they said it maybe an oil leak.Help with instructions on how to figure out what the issue is?
@RBTheMechanic2 жыл бұрын
That’s catalytic converter code if ur loosing power that u need to defiantly replace it
@amdstrollo30742 жыл бұрын
Most likely your cat died because of oil burning, there is a recall on 2008-2012 4 cylinder accords, fixing it requires replacing the pistons and rings. You could also try putting a very strong solvent cleaner down the spark plug holes and let that sit for several days, adding additional every so many hours, then starting the car without the plugs to blow out the solvent and doing an oil change with some good a synthetic. Best of luck.
