It's not difficult at all on the Supra. Getting it jacked up is half the work really. The top mount oil filter is easier to reach than a lot of cars.
@danielhass48123 жыл бұрын
Do you have to jack up the front and rear so the car is horizontal?
@Br0wnGuy263 жыл бұрын
I have jacked the front only and have had great success, not sure if being level would help as the drain plug is towards the back of the engine.

I put 5W-30 Pennzoil Platinum Euro in my A91 Edition. 0W-20 is too thin. Only reason they use it is to raise the MPG numbers. Also, instead of buying 2 5 quart jugs, buy a 5 quart, and 2 single quarts. Dump it all, done.
@revmatchtv3 жыл бұрын
It's a bit less expensive to buy two 5 quart jugs.
@davepaturno42906 ай бұрын
When you design an engine for a certain viscosity, and specify that and any alternates in the owner's manual, the owner should not select anything other than what in specified, unless longevity of that engine is not a concern. I'm sticking with OEM 0W-20 oil, especially while the car is under warranty. The dealership could reject a warranty repair if your proof of oil changes include a receipt for a viscosity of oil that is not listed in the manual. If 5W-30 full synthetic is listed then you are safe.

@@ryadhasanahmed5443Actually, there are now alternate batteries, but you need to reset the computer so that it knows the new battery specs if not OEM. If replacing yhe battery with an OEM battery, you will need to tell the computer that a new battery has been installed, since as a battery ages, the computer changes charging parameters. OBD Link, (adapter/connector) Bimmerlink, and Bimmercode (software) are handy to have. You can also change a bunch of default settings, like turning off fake engine sounds and having the car start in Sport mode.

Any top name oil will work as long as it's within the required spec. Penzoil is great and this video was sponsored and I've used it since this video. For track use, I'd recommend Motul as it has special additives which can handle extreme duty track use.

Thanks for this I actually hate buying new cars as I always have to find out what the maintenance it like etc. I buy or order only from fleet managers and always pay in cash we never use credit. But even then hate going to a car dealer as even Porsche dealers can be annoying as they hound you even when you are just picking up a new car. Ugh.... About time a Japanese car had the oil filter on the top like my daily driver a VW R or my new weekend ride a 2022 991 Carrera. Wife is a Nissan Z fan she has 2 one is near 20yrs old but looks brand new and if you ever owned a Z like the 350 and or 370 the 2 we still own. You have that panel with over dozens screws and a hard to reach oil filter all under the cars. This Toyota looks a step up from the old everything is under the car nonsense. We are looking for a daily driver we don't have kids just dogs, so we only buy coupes or hatchbacks but mostly only sports cars as for us we only need 2 seats and you would be surprised how much stuff we can fit in Z or 911 etc If we need to haul stuff we just rent a truck or have it delivered . Also they are the safest cars to drive out there only a sports car has the stopping power, acceleration and maneuverability to avoid all the idiots on the road. NOT talking about stupid street racing. The Supra is looking better each time I research it. Wish the car had a drain valve like a lot of German cars do. Then no need for crusher washers etc. We are going to test drive and look at one this weekend to see it in person. Other cars we are looking at are the Q60 and RC etc.

You can reuse the crush washer, but it comes free with the oil filter, so why not replace it? Filters are about $10-12 last time I bought one.
