The right Mobile 1 oil is very expensive, no local auto parts stores wanted to order it. I bought it on Amazon and even there it nearly doubled in price from the first time I ordered it. .

Can you show detailed steps to remove the oil filter? I have trouble to take it out because the filter is blocked by turbo air pipe.

lift the clip on the turbo air pipe by the air filter, you can then detach there only and lift it clear to remove the filter. no need to remove the entire air pipe unless you are curious. same method applies for the clip at the turbo side intake, and the bov by the intercooler. lift the clips and pull the hose/pipe.

To replace the oil filter, you need 27mm socket with a long extension rod and handle.

Danny: Can you please provide more details about releasing the intake pipe on the left side. There are 2 wide clips on top but the unit seems attached at the bottom too. Also... the removal of the oil filter cap must be somewhat contorted and may require rotating it towards the front due to the interference with the intake pipe; please confirm.

For the intake pipe just take out the clip as seen in the video then u can just yank the other 2 ends off, it will not damage it. As for the old filter just yank it out as well, putting it back might be a little bit hard but just angle it well and push it in. Don’t be scared to be rough on it

Why Mobile 1 ESP and not Euro blend??

The ESP meets 229.52 specs. The older blend stops at 229.5

Any insight as to why the shift from vacuuming the oil out through the dipstick tube (other than that there is no dipstick tube)? I guess oil changes were too easy in the past and people complained being charged $300 for an oil change at the dealer. It's so nice not having to climb under the car and get oil all over the place.

no dipstick = people scared and whiny, and run to dealer. just learn the new procedure and go at it. no big deal.

@@shmuck66 I think you misunderstand. The "old" procedure was vacuuming the oil through a dipstick pipe or one specifically for removing oil. The "new" procedure is the legacy method of draining from the oil pan.

@@JettaRedIII nah man, I completely 100% understand thoroughly with total confidence and experience on this subject. YES I know old procedure was sucking it out of the dipstick pipe. you CANT do that anymore. So adopt the "legacy" procedure newly required for this engine.

the crush washer is 14mm ID. doesn't have to come from MB

any auto parts worth their salt has copper crush washers, and you can reuse the old one if you don't damage it by taking it off the bolt. If you really want to be certain, just reheat the washer with a torch just to slightly discolour it. DO NOT GET RED HOT. just discolour it slightly. that will anneal the copper and make it soft again.

Do you know the torque values for the oil filter cap and the oil plug at the bottom of the crankcase cover?

The oil filter should be 25Nm (18.4lbft) and the oil plug 30Nm (22lbft).

oil filter cap I prefer to even stay lower than factory torque since it is plastic. I turn it in until it stops and physically bottomed out. I do not apply more torque. It is held locked by 3 o-rings and the filter seal itself, it will not move.

The new M264 engine must use the latest oil formulations to protect it from LSPI (low speed pre-ignition)

I've noticed small differences in both pep and fuel economy based on the oil. I use www.shell-livedocs.com/data/published/en-US/167988aa-905e-4084-a156-cff4045be0af.pdf but I also have prepaid dealer service annually, and noticed their oil causes more drag on the turbo and thus slower turbo response off idle. etc. Noticed worse fuel economy numbers with dealer oil. My dealer must be using bulk oil and same rating for AMG and regular mercedes cars. so probably closer to 5w40 weight. That said, latest spec of Euro oils must be used to prevent low speed pre ignition, and intake valve coking.

nah, the filter is less than 10 dollars and includes all gaskets and the copper washer. calm your panties. Just because it is a mercedes doesn't mean they are ripping you off. Drive one constantly past 100mph and you will understand. you want a real rip off, buy a chrysler. sells you 10 year old technology, made out of recycled condoms, and engineered to rust as fast as possible, and vibrate to death past 60mph.
