Very informative video, thank you! If all HVAC pros were this generous with their knowledge the world would be a better place.

Glad I found you. I could never remember how to attach gauges in heat mode. Plus you explained approximately what the proper refrigerant should be if no info at outside unit. Thank you.👍

Nice video!, good tips. I'm on the commercial side this is where rules of thumb come in handy, I like to focus on saturation temperature rather than pressure. Keep up the good work!

If I had a 32 degree outdoor Temp, about 80 on suction pressure, 21 degree suction saturation, high side about 315 psi, outdoor metering device is a TXV. Would that seem normal. I had a unit that would lockout intermittently in heat mode due to pressure dropping so low. Other times pressures would drop very low but would stabilize to the readings I stated above. I was thinking TXV wasn’t opening up properly but now I am wondering if charge is low.
@HVACTechTips3 жыл бұрын
I would need to know the suction line temp and the chart if possible to know for sure, but it sounds like it will be close on the charge.

What are the symptoms on the heat pump being over charged in heat mode. Would it be blowing cool air?
@HVACTechTips3 жыл бұрын
It’s possible but normally an overcharge system will cut off on high pressure and then it would just be cool air blowing and the outdoor would not be running

Red hose goes on the liquid line in both heat and cool, you got it on hot gas side in heating
@aaronshoyt3 жыл бұрын
Depending if you have a txv or a piston. On a piston your high side is the big line, on a txv you hook to your small line. But if he has a piston then he's hooked up right.
@HVACTechTips3 жыл бұрын
Yes it’s a piston
@jericosha28423 жыл бұрын
@@aaronshoyt I don't really see why it matters if there is a TXV or not? I'm confused.
@grapeshot34623 жыл бұрын
That's true unless it's a Carrier with the piston right at the service valve.

In heat mode you connect red gauges to liquid line (small line)
@HVACTechTips2 жыл бұрын
Not if it’s a piston
@mle1ravens110 ай бұрын
Only with a txv (I think it is)...if the liquid line has a threaded connection right behind where your gauge connects it's a piston and if soldered than it's got a txv valve (or whatever) and your hook-up is at the smaller liquid line.

Hi thanks for the video. Hope you can point me out on my problem. I switched from heating to A/C and my SSZ14 is not starting. The error code on my goodman furnace AVPTC is C1 - LOW STAGE COOL - LEGACY MODE ONLY. Do you have any idea how to resolve this issue. The unit was working great during winter but now switching to A/C and the heat pump is not starting anymore. Thanks Hugo
