One thing That worked for me personally is go To Device Manager->Network adpaters->Wifi Double click it Goto advanced tap in that there will a value drop down in that select dual band (probably 6th option) reboot ut system

At 2:22 802.11a is an outdated 5GHz, .ac is the latest 5GHz, .b and .g are outdated 2.4GHz, while 802.11n can be either. I suspect the first appearance of 802.11n is for 2.4GHz and the second is for 5GHz. In order, it appears to be listing best to worst for 2.4GHz (n,g,b) followed by best to worst for 5GHz (ac,n,a). Greenfield mode (or some other name in a router) means deny support for older standards, can improve throughput when no old standard systems share the channel. In legacy supporting mode, packets have to be wrapped with a slow marker to tell older systems (even if other networks sharing the channel) not to stomp on them. PS. Another bee in my bonnet, channeling systems (2.4GHz), of which there are 3 incompatible: 1. USA standard, using 1, 6, 11 - totally non overlapped - most devices auto-set in this pattern 2. USA 4 ch compromise - 1, 4, 7, 11 - slight overlap, but 4 & 7 vs 6 may cause interference 3. UK/EU optimal - 1, 5, 9, 13 It is best to avoid being 1-2 away from a strong signal, as that will interfere rather than share co-operatively

If you want your 5GHz network to work on a pc that does not support it, you have to get a new driver. The only way I know is to buy a USB WiFi adapter that supports 5GHz. To know that it supports 5GHz, the properties of USB WiFi should say: 802.11a 802.11c 802.11n OR 802.11ac If you have USB WiFi with these properties, you can use a 5GHz network.

5g is low distance/highspeed 2.4g is longer distance/low speed. Just depends on how far you are away from the router, and what is in the way between your device and your router, eg: walls/furniture. Is your modem up high?

You're one of the best, man, but it should be noted that if a system has been upgraded to Win 8.1 or 10, that command prompt will likely result in the error message Wlan AutoConfig Service Not Running. Instead of the command prompt described first try, netsh winsock reset catalog. Hit enter. Then type, netsh int ip reset reset.log hit and hit enter again. Then reboot and see it that fixes the error. Before doing any of this, to be safe, set a system restore point.
