Scotty Kilmer I replaced the struts on my 2007 camry with KYB complete struts front and back and everything is torque to spec. Also replace lower ball joints in front but I still hear a thumping noise in front and back when I go over bumps. What could it be?

It amazes me that he puts this much time and effort into making these videos, and he's not even getting paid to do it! Just a cool guy who wants to share his knowledge. I mean, they're far more than just technical explanations, he actually goes out of his way to make each one a bit different and quirky; to make more of an entertaining and fun show. I love that. Props to you, Scotty.

VanguardDragon When someone says a company "asked them" to put up a video, that means they likely paid him somehow, but he seems genuine and nothing he says contradicts anything I know about cars and shocks, the only suspect thing is him claiming people have bought shocks that wear out in a week then he finds they're Chinese counterparts, if its bad in a week it was likely a defective shock, not because that's the norm with cheap shocks, I'm sure its happened to Monroe struts before as well, the question is are you willing to take the gamble to save money, not quite that if you buy Chinese struts you're going to be replacing them in a week like some people may interpret the message as.

VanguardDragon oh yeah, about a million subscribers, high views and ads rolling on his videos. The best.. I literally just solved my head ache of bouncing around the highway. Rear shocks of my 2017 elantra is bouncing around like crazy whilst the front is just one bounce and then firm, that's how i was able to diagnose my issue. When I'm at high speed on smooth highway road i can't really feel the discomfort but when i get back to the city I'm getting battered and bruised with all the pot holes omg.. Philly Streets. Hi Scott, thanks for the informative video, it was a great help. I have a question. Over the period of time my car has started to vibrate a lot, you can actually feel it on the pedals as well as steering wheel at idling plus a rattling is felt when the front tyres go into a pothole or a bump even at very slow speeds. I have checked all 4 motor mounts but none of them is broken. Does shock absorbers have anything to do with it? And they arent leaking oil, but yeah they are almost 12 years old and kind of quite stiff. Thanks, Mehul

Scotty all your videos are good. Do take the time to visit your friend in Australia. I was fortunate enough to be a guest in Australia 4 times, while in the United States Navy. It is the only Country in the Pacific Rim that genuinely loves Americans, and not just your tourist dollars. If you and your wife have ever enjoyed a glass of wine: I highly suggest taking a tour through the Hunter Valley in New South Wales. The finest wine in Australia is consumed in Australia. All the food in Australia is great. There are greatl car and motorcycle clubs all over Australia. Australia has the best of everything in the southern hemisphere. ab30494 nah, they are long gone. You just don't notice it, like he said, McPherson suspension is very good in hiding messed up shock absorbers. But I am sure all those heart burn problems you are having or back issues will confirm that your shocks are shot. They generally go at around every 60k miles and if yo ignore them, you get physical issues like lower back pain, needing to take nexium for heart burn every couple of months. Just change them and you will see the difference instantly both in the ride and your health.

Chinese is not a race, it's a nationality. And to state that a product or products manufactured in a particular nation is generally bad is not racist. I try too avoid certain products made in Canada and Mexico and I won't buy/use vehicle thermostats made in Israel due to bad experiences with them. I was on the fence about buying some from Ebay so I came to this video to see if anyone else had bought some from ebay as well, now I think ill do what scotty said and get some monroe instead, yeah they might not save me a few bucks like I would want but if they are reliable and wont have a rough ride then I'll pay the extra

actually no they didn't pay scotty. he tells you what he thinks is best. automatically if he tells you monroe is a good strut bam he got paid to advertise it. no dippy do. he didnt get paid to do that all he did was share what the best struts are in his opinion. so until you know your facts why dont you stick to buying your chines garbage struts and keep changing them every 3 months k?
@bloodypulp88

and additionally the way you make it sound scotty cant say ANY brand name or else hes advertising them. idk if you noticed but there isnt any special thanks at the end or sponcers (which they would want if they paid him) so learn facts its people like you that piss us off. and honestly i like Monroe myself they are a good strut. and who cares if he has a 10% discount from amazon if you had a brain you would know he is only trying to be nice and get you a deal

+VegaGT500 I've got Chinese shocks and they seem to be doing excellent since I put them on early this year. The saving is 1/10 of what you may pay for the name brand. I love them but please, be cautious whenever you buy cheap products made by anyone.

Hi Scotty! Thanks for the vid. Been working on cars for years myself, except I have not much experience with struts. Your vid confirmed that my Sebring convertible indeed needed them replaced. My question is, what do you think of Gabriel struts? I am a vet, on disability, and don't have much money. Was going to buy a set of sense's, but you and hundreds of reviews have definitely convinced me not to.

I put some Sensa-Tracs on a 2000 Astro, the difference is night and day. On the rough country roads I drive, they don't last all that long, but they have a lifetime warranty so that's not much of a problem. The Astro's subframe design really lets it rock the corners if you have shocks which aren't horribly miserable, as the stock shocks were.

Great video! Turns out my shocks are bad, but I also have a huge hole in my wheel well from rust, so the shock is hitting against my tailgate plastic through the shock mount and the noise is unbearable... Hope to avoid getting it welded and just replace the shock mount before the rust eats the wheel well!
