How to check your car's engine oil level

In this video I will show you how to check you engine oil level if your car has a engine oil dipstick. Your should always consult you owners manual if you are unsure about checking oil on your specific vehicle. This was performed on Toyota Highlander Hybrid.

Just found your channel and subscribed to it! The most accurate way to check the level is to let the car sit overnight and check? Am I wrong?

A lot of time the filter and oil passages will drain down over night causing the oil level to read higher on the dipstick. Most manufacturers have you run the engine and let it sit for a certain amount of time. Normally between 3 and 10 minutes. Nissan v6 engines require sitting for over 10 minutes in order to read properly.

To protect the eyes from splashing oil the drone is the safer way to make a video rather than holding the cam with the blurry eyes.

What is the oil is just over the top hole is it too full?

It should be fine. The level will get slightly higher when the engine is hot as well. If it was more than 1/4” above the full dot I would drain some out.

@@leemehan if you haven’t started it yet it will be slightly higher. The oil will drain out of the internal passages as it sits. If your level is just above the full hole after sitting over night it should be good.
