I'm 38, and crazy workplace stress destroys my T levels - tried some over-the-counter testo boosters (they worked but none of them are recommended for long term use), but now I have surprisingly good results with just daily Zinc supplement (40-50 mg/day) with added Vitamin D.

I've had good results from vitamins as well. They basically only work if your are low, but I just happened to be low in all of the important stuff... For Vitamin D, I need 4,000 IU/day this time of year (you don't want to be high, just around 40-50 ng/ml). For Zinc, those "Cold--eeze" drops are great (walmart brand to save money). According to Chris Masterjohn, your body can only absorb 8 mg of zinc every 4-6 hours. So it's best to take a low dose, frequently throughout the day. The cold drops work great for this, although they taste bad. Also monounsaturated fat can boost testosterone... I had a measurable improvement from 2-4 teaspoons/day of extra virgin olive oil (yes, seriously). Selenium can help, but going too high is bad for mood. For most guys, 100mcg of selenium every-other-day is best (don't go higher without getting tested). Chris Masterjohn is again good for learning about selenium. The biggest testosterone-killers are obesity, crash dieting and sleep deprivation. All of this stuff can help. But when all else fails, find a doctor who does TRT. The best doctors all allow their patients to self-inject at home.

Also... 1) Vitamin D... it can take a month or more to raise low levels 2) Zinc (I like the cold drops, spaced-out 2-4 times per day).. works quickly 3) Monounsaturated fat (olive oil, 2-4 teaspoons/day worked for me)... works quickly 4) .... The BIGGEST thing (other than getting enough sleep and recovery) is DIET. Being a little overweight is fine, but obesity will HAMMER testosterone levels. Not eating enough can be just as bad. So if you are crash dieting and feeling like crap, low testosterone is a possible cause. For guys wrestling with their weight and low testosterone, testosterone therapies can help. Testosterone is NOT a potent fat burner, but it allows you to diet hard without feeling as shitty. But never assume -- get tested, get help from a doctor (I'm not a doctor, just a guy who has gone through all this).

Sleep is a great indicator. Deep intense dream filled sleep. A teenager falls asleep easily and is very tired has they wake up. People who have trouble falling asleep who get by on 6 hours plus caffeine and almost never remember a dream are lacking in many of the bodies vital systems.

We were kinda groomed in the military to run on lack of sleep, caffeine, and hate. Most consider it a bad thing but if you truly embrace it, your body adapts. A number of active veterans have a harsh reaction to the sedentary civilian lifestyle. I've made small uncomfortable adjustments to my lifestyle (like hitting the gym everyday, and cooking real food). I've felt a drastic change in my T, focus, and drive. It was more of a mindset adjustment to stop seeking modern comforts.

If you're an over 40 American man, it's almost certain that your T is low (I speak from experience). There are so many common prescriptions that ruin your T levels. Plus, endocrine disruptors are abundant throughout our industrial food system. For instance, if you like eggs (which are also good for boosting your T, cholesterol is the basic building block for T), pay extra for pastured, genuinely free-range ones. Cheap battery eggs are full of artificial hormones and antibiotics that will cancel out any benefit.

My test is 1050 ng/dl at 31. I also had it tested at 30 and it was around 1000 that time. However, I do not get morning wood. I have no issues with sex drive either. I believe this is because I take finasteride, I manage the dosage well to keep my hair. Doubt I will get morning wood without stopping it, but I can't because I'd look like shit without hair and already had 2 tranplants. An interesting effect I have other then no morning wood, is a high SHBG level of about 70. So, my circulating free T is much lower, but still in a perfectly normal range. Make sure people check their free T, I feel that is more important then total.

Yeah, I have test levels right at a 1000, too. However, my SHBG is sky high, so it doesn't really matter. I am also starting to lose my hair very rapidly, but I will not take finasteride. I also would look terrible with no hair, because I have a huge head, so I am looking into microneedling and red-light therapy to hopefully regrow hair.

I used to take finasteride for years and it also made me stop having morning wood, but I stopped taking it at age 29 when I noticed my libido got too low, I don't know if it was because of my T levels getting low exponaneously or because of the finasteride but that made me extremely paranoid, so I stopped with finasteride at that point. After I stopped I started to get morning wood again but I got bald extremely fast lol.

@Be Frank Go for it! I am 43 and suffered from low T for more than seven years. With that being said, I didn't take the dive right away on account of wanting to preserve my fertility. So about two years ago I was on HCG Mono-therapy, and the therapy worked for about 6 months with numbers as high as 721 ng/dl. Well, 6 months ago, my T crashed to as low as 130 ng/dl and felt like complete shit. For that reason, I took the plunge and now regret not doing it sooner. Regarding my treatment, I am on Testosterone Cyp 200mg, 1ml injection every seven days. Also, with my insurance, my cost is $60 for a vial that's 10 weeks worth of treatment. Very reasonable and with Doctor visits for bloodwork $30 every 3 months.

I’m 34 and my PCP checked my T in a blood panel and found it below average. Put me on 100mL intramuscularly once a week, into my quad muscle. Told me putting it into my fat would do nothing. Set me up with 10 weeks worth for 30 bucks. Insurance covered about $270. I’m on week 6 but I’ve already gone from 6 plates leg press to 14 plates PR. I don’t feel like I’ve gained any actual energy, but I have gained about 10lbs of muscle and strength. I’m single however, and go to the gym about 6 days a week for an hour and half. Don’t drink any alcohol. Only eat bad on Friday and Saturday. People tell me I look 25. Keep putting a dent in the universe gentlemen. Stay strong.

In the USA, testosterone levels are available from Quest Diagnostics for about $78. No doctor's orders needed. You should check it in the early morning and ideally it should be checked twice. A level less than 300 ng/dl is low. This needs to be followed by an LH level to see if there is a pitutitary/central problem. If the LH is low or normal then prolactin level needs to be checked.
@richardpellis
@richardpellis 3 жыл бұрын
Gentlemen -- even if you don't think you have a problem, I recommend that you get tested AND keep a copy of your test results. This establishes your baseline. Then retest every 5 years, i.e. like 25-30-35-40, etc. so you can detect when a change occurs. It will occur. The sooner you know, the sooner you can do something about it. The same goes for iron levels, thyroid, and CBC, CMP. BTW... a Male Hormone Panel, that includes more than just T, is best. If people "like" this post, I can provide specifics. There is also a great website/forum on male hormones I can recommend. They helped me interpret my results. I never had health issues till I hit my early 50's (also didn't have much empathy for others btw). Then it hit me hard. I've been working on getting back to "normal" for 4 years now. P.S. My doctor just told me, "You're getting older. It's what happens."

I somehow entered a super sleep oriented mindset in june last year and for 2 months I was sleeping before 21 or 22. I would go fast into deep sleep that time and wake automatically at 4 or 5 am myself, feeling super fresh and rested. So its about when you sleep (before 21-22) and the quality of your sleep.

Would you say drinkling ocational energy drinks can affect your T in any way? What about diet and such? I'm in my early 20's, most signs point to good testosterone but i got somewhat inconsistent morning wood, which scares me a bit, would appreciate any imput here.

I’m 30 and my levels are in the normal range but low. I used to party and drink beer heavily. I’ve lifted pretty frequently but now I’m taking it to another level and heavily focusing on sleep and nutrition as well. Will my t levels increase greatly naturally if I optimize my lifestyle? Or should I just start TRT as soon as possible?

not at a point to think about TRT yet but I'm curious as far as the testosterone to estrogen conversion issue - my understanding is that aromatase is the enzyme which triggers that process and you can take aromatase inhibitors to reduce/stop that from happening. I'm trying a high dose of grape seed extract right now for that very purpose.

Frankly diet is one of the biggest problems with men these days. If you eat whole foods plant based diet, it will be the best way to enhance your T levels and overall health. Avoid meat and dairy plus follow your body natural chronobiology clock. That means eat foods at the right time of the day and stop throwing it off with crazy mixed up schedules. Alcohol is definitely a big problem yes and avoid very hoops heavy beer.

I never had morning wood I always have had all night wood.... Even if I have sex before bed it never fails. It's annoying but I guess that probably means I'm way over T levels. I'm 26 so I'm still pretty young, but I've always taken care of myself and I don't drink, smoke or do drugs. The one thing I would only disagree is lifting heavy weight. I got my biggest when I lifted a light/moderate weight for more reps and sets and incorporated some body weight workouts. I've also helped a hand full of friends do the same when they noticed I kept getting bigger and wanted to know how I did it.

I wouldn't recommend TRT. If you aren't getting the necessary building blocks to synthesize your own endogenous testosterone, then you don't have the necessary building blocks to facilitate other processes in the body. In other words, your deficiencies will STILL manifest even with TRT in the form of diseases. You will just degenerate while holding onto the masculine characteristics. Here's an example; Vitamin D. Vitamin D is essential for the production of testosterone. Vitamin A&D are steroid precursors and a significant proportion of the population is actually deficient. Too much time indoors, bad weather, sun screen, clothing, Fatty liver and visceral fat etc these are just a few factors that influence absorption from the sun. Now, let's pretend a certain individual's testosterone deficiency is directly caused by a deficiency in this one vitamin. The person goes on TRT for a while and notices that they feel normal, or really good. Problem solved? unfortunately they still have the underlying deficiency that absolutely needs to be corrected. In my experience one deficiency is accompanied by many others and will eventually hasten the degeneration. there are Vitamin D receptors in every cell in the body and it is responsible for thousands of gene expressions. it curbs inflammation, improves sleep, can reduce belly fat, stress, buffs up the immune system, helps digestion, mood, libido, hair growth, bone health etc. The list is extensive. My point is that it is worthwhile to figure out the underlying cause of health issues to prevent more down the road. for anyone wanting to know more here is a list of factors in testosterone; Porn, Masturbation and orgasm/ nofap (very powerful effect) Endocrine disruptors, nutritional deficiencies, zinc, omega 3, magnesium, vitamin a and d...... lack of muscle Iron Overload Grain-fed, estrogenic meat. you definitely need to eat meat for proper testosterone production. It has so many vitamins and minerals, it's not really up for debate that we require meat. However conventional farming for the masses has reduced the quality substantially and can be very estrogenic. Excess body fat converts testosterone to estrogen so get rid of the gut Androgen receptor density/ sensitivity. It's not always about the testosterone levels but the amount of receptors that receive the hormone. there's probably waaaaay more. The rabbit hole goes deep. We know the chemicals in the water are turning the frogs gay so good luck in not becoming a gay frog.

If you want a more naturopathic solution, check out Pine Pollen extract. It's a tonic, so it can be taken long term with no ill effects. I've seen very good results and want to try cycling with other herbal supplements such as Tongkat Ali (not so easy to get in the EU), Ashwaghanda and Saw Palmetto to name a few. If you live near an unpolluted pine forest, you can collect the pollen in Spring and prepare your own tinctures. Beware that the pollen needs to be heated at a low temperature for some time to crack its shell, making the androgens and other nutrients bioavailable. You probably won't get jacked from this solution alone but if you're looking to balance hormones and support a healthy lifestyle I'd recommend it.
