I'm just about to change my oil and was looking for one last reference before I start. Thank you for the short and simple video. You covered everything needed and how to do it in a few minutes. The only thing I would add would be a site description of where the drain plug is located. It looks like it can be seen from the passenger side of the vehicle. Thanks for your time.

Why not remove the engine cap slowly AFTER removing the oil plug--wouldn't it be less messy?
@johnf512210 ай бұрын
It works either way if you have a large enough drain pan in the right spot. If you mean for your hand, just use those this plastic gloves.

The filter is on the left (drivers) side

Removing filler cap first will help oil drain out faster, possibly more completely.

How beneficial do are magnetic oil pan plugs? Wouldn't they get overwhelmed with small metal particles soon after rendering them somewhat useless unless cleaned often?

Thanks. Short and too the point.

Oil the gasket on the filter housing and you need 6 quarts!

Wow, it totally forgot to include that in the video. I was trying to make it short and sweet and must have accidentally skipped over that. Thanks! I'll add it to the description.

is it normal to have oil still in the place where the oil filter sits? I've drained it the pan and it's not dripping anymore. I don't have this with my 2014 Chevrolet Cruze, but first time with my 2016 Chevrolet Colorado V6.
@johnf512210 ай бұрын
Likely normal, can remove it as long as nothing is left in there, example parts of a sponge, paper towel or rag.

Oil filter cap is 24 mm or 15/16 not 1 inch

Sweet. Thanks! Although an 1” is darn close to 22mm I could see cap getting stripped using the wrong size

It’s not 1” it’s 24mm socket

Thanks. 1” worked too. Had to go with what I had available in my toolkit.
