@djcarlo2 жыл бұрын
I'd say the amount you charge really depends on your location and the nature of the gig. Try asking other DJs in your area how much they'd normally recommend charging for 4 hours!

Hey Carlo, how is this different from the baby scratch? Wouldn't the chirp scratch sound the exact same if you didn't use the crossfader?
@thatchinaboi1 Жыл бұрын
You can reproduce the chirp at a slow speed using no crossfader, but it is very difficult to reproduce a chirp at double time using no crossfader. A chirp is shortened baby scratches.

A lot of these tutorials have the teacher saying "Now try doing it double time" but then they immediately do it faster than double time. Like at 2:10, he skips from half notes to 16th notes. That's OCTUPLE TIME

Hi Carlo, Great video. Unfortunately I have an issue with my controller, I can't seem to get the vinyl sound I want. For example, if I let go of the jog wheel it won't do that grinding sound. My controller is an XDJ RX, do you please have a solution ?
@walker_198802 жыл бұрын
what's the point of moving the fader if it sounds almost identical to not doing so? And how do I get rid of the muscle memory from stab scratching while doing that? And how do you practice tapping the crossfader faster? ...That's a lot of questions, you don't have to answer all of that by the way
@djcarlo2 жыл бұрын
The point is, if you're gonna scratch cleanly, you better follow the rules lol

Hi Carlo! Man your vids are so helpful, but how do you select your songs, I don’t mean the punchline songs that grab the attention, but all the inbetweens, the background songs and the songs that can connect the genres? I’m struggling with these at the moment for a good garage/house mix

I moved from Numark V7 motorized joggs to a Numark ns6. When I scratch on my new ns6, when I pull the hand back and take the hand of the jogg it keeps spinning back, instead of moving forward like on a motorized jogg. And it’s hard to get off my old habit

Hey Carlo, I’m using the same equipment as you, a DDJ400 and Rekordbox. I’m learning how to chirp scratch, but I feel like when I try to do the first forward scratch and turn the fader off at the same time, barely any sound comes out. I have to have like a mini delay with my hand motion by doing the forward scratch first then turning the fader off after a millisecond. But I’ve realised that in your videos you move both hands at the same time. Could this be a delay issue I’m having with my software?
@thatchinaboi1 Жыл бұрын
It has to do with the speed of movement. You are moving the platter more than you are the crossfader in terms of distance. Therefore if you move at the same time and same speed, the chirp will be way too short if you even get a chirp sound at all. Try delaying the crossfader hand slightly as well as moving the platter faster.
@agarsjsu6 жыл бұрын
When you do this scratch is the cross fader setting on serato on full?
@hozairwasseli79866 жыл бұрын

If they'd call it a "stab-scratch" people would wrap their heads ariund it much faster 😅 you stab the sample in and close the fader and open it up again (for further stabbing or otherr trickery. Right?
