Just for kicks look into having an ARB air locker installed. I opted for the sport because I’d rather have an onboard air compressor and air lockers over the E-locker. I’d be wasting money to only have it uninstalled for the air lockers both front and rear. Total cost around 3-4K of an ARB setup

I just put a down payment on a TRD Sport but I am a little torn. I won't do heavy duty trails (most likely) and most of my driving will be on paved surfaces. I'll also be pulling a travel trailer in the next few years. I don't really NEED the Off-Road version but a part of me will know that there are useful tools that I won't have. I am planning on getting a more aggressive tire married to the bronze Trail Edition wheels so I guess I'll be okay. Still, there is that off road capability I won't have. The Sport that Jeff has in this video does look really nice. Any advice?

You and me are in the same boat. With all the information out there, it’s hard to determine what your heart desires. Becomes clouded. I wonder whether those two Tacomas are already spoken for. I was at my local Toyota dealer and he showed me a list of their 20 Tacomas slated to arrive in January. All of them are already sold and assigned to buyers. They currently do not have any ‘21 or ‘22 Tacomas in stock. Their used lot has a 2017. I was also told that they may only get 3-4 TRD Pros and they can’t pick any configuration as the manufacturer configures and assigns dealers their allotted amount including the color. I was fortunate to find a dealer who let me order exactly what I wanted and I even got to choose the "port/distributor" installed options too. I added the Tech Package and LED headlights from the factory and from the distribution center I opted for the slider type rocker protection bars, and the auto lock tailgate. The whole process only took three weeks because the dealer was able to get my truck from Toyota on their first attempt with the "dealer preference" request. Anyhow, my question for you is...How do you guys there at your dealership install the extra USB ports on the back of the console? What part do you buy from Toyota and how does it hook into the truck's harness/wiring? Thanks for your channel, I really enjoy it!

Neither, get an SR5 unless you’re doing serious off-roading
@samfromalbuquerque72353 жыл бұрын
SR5 with four wheel drive. Even better. All you need. I have an Off-Road and must admit, even though I do go on road trips taking me into mountain dirt roads,.....I over bought.

@@samfromalbuquerque7235 Good to know. I’m trying to figure which one to get. I know lots of guys that don’t use all the gadgetry of the OR, but that locker does seem nice.

I'd rather have a 2 wheel drive Tacoma truck with a locking rear differential and a manual transmission. Than a 4x4 Tacoma truck with an automatic transmission

Love the vid! Does the remote start come with both the Sport and Off Road at a base level, or is that part of an added package?
@sonysoyboysaremadeoftears.74042 жыл бұрын
You are much better off getting the sport or sr5 with 4x4 and putting aftermarket lockers in it that are far better than the toyota locker that only engages in 4LO which is super lame. I have a 2014 sport 4x4 with an after market eaton e locker that is selectable in 2HI 4HI and 4LO and I never had to pay the premium price for the hype of the TRD OR.

Heck ya thanks for this comment great stuff and that TRD Sport just looks 🔥 over the OR IMO! Hands down sport wins my pick!
@stevenjoseph89802 жыл бұрын
So up until reading your comment I never even thought that adding lockers was a possibility. I'm not very vehicle handy but just knowing this is possible is extremely helpful. I just put a down payment down on a Sport but was having second thoughts. I don't do aggressive off road trails but didn't want to limit the possibility by getting a sport and then not having the OR tools. Knowing that I could potentially add this later is awesome. So I will stick with the Sport and plan on adding a more aggressive tire for now. I can't imagine that I will regret the decision.

@@stevenjoseph8980 Yes, you can go to any offroad shop they will have what you need. ARB offroad and Eaton Detroit make lockers that fit the 3rd gen sport models and they are both very good.

@@sonysoyboysaremadeoftears.7404 Thanks for info man.
@sonysoyboysaremadeoftears.74042 жыл бұрын
@@stevenjoseph8980 Yea man no worries, and the good thing about an aftermarket locker is you can use it in any mode 2wd 4hi and 4lo the TRD offroad is only usable in 4lo so having an aftermarket locker gives you more options on the trail, that is why I think going aftermarket with a locker in an SR5 or Sport is better than buying a offroad or pro.

I 🤡 guys driving 4x4 living So Cal . I did my homework I got a TRD Sports 4x2. Faster , tow more cap , less weight , low maintenance, cheaper insurance and daily driver . I don’t thinks it’s going to snow ❄️ near Disneyland . Lol

2021 SR SX 4x4 v-6 is what I got. It’s a good truck. Put better tires then the shitty little tires came with it. I’m just glad it doesn’t have that auto start bullshit! I would go with what you can afford! Good luck getting a new one without waiting months.

Antiquated engine and WAY over priced due to the pandemic! It baffles me that these 2 trucks will be well over $40,000 when all is said and done! I'll pass until the 4th gen or redesign of the Tacoma
