I did do some real-world head-to-head but unfortunately my camera is not very good for low-light conditions and the footage was all but unusable. At the time I also did not have a very good microphone when I was outdoors, so the audio sucked too. I really wish that I could have had some usable footage but the overall sentiment was that I kind of like the 6D More than the 5D. The biggest part is the flippy screen, and the 6D is better for low light.

@@CosmosSafari Thanks for the reply. Interesting. Despite all the flak the 6Dii has gotten, in the real world it seems like a practical, satisfying camera to many. So, despite the 5D slightly leading in those categories like SNR and DR, you still give the edge to the 6D for low light. Is that more handling/focusing in low light or image quality? I still have a slight pull towards the 5D for the weather sealing and dual card slots in case, but in terms of price, it's the difference between a camera I could justify buying soon in the 6D vs having to wait. As a more general note, I am a complete beginner in photography, and while one knows there will be a learning curve, no one ever tells you just how big the curve can be. Keep it up! Btw, I saw someone below ask the same question I did, but did not see it til just now.

@@Ivan-xg1zo I like that Canon has considered the adapters to allow the use of their EF lenses to adapt to their RF Mirrorless system with supposedly no issues with focus speed but they are definitely behind Sony in a number of ways, at least for hybrid shooters like me.

Unfortunately the footage is was nearly unusable due to the camera I have to shoot video at night being inadequate. I have it still, I am sure I could salvage something. Sorry I never posted it.

I havent fallen into the rabbit hole of astro...but its coming for sure. However, I am looking at these 2 cameras for my nexrt F.F camera. I almost bought a used MKIV 2 nights ago, but still was debating, plus some people dont think that a used camera should be less than what they paid new SMH. all that said, I am and have been leaning towards the 6d II, and you helped push me further that way. Im not a pixel punk or the sort, and have enjoyed the many benefits of my trusted 80D. However, I am curious about the FF difference. I also have learned the glass one uses is, IMO, a larger factor. I do look forward to checking out the cosmos and will be watching for more knowleedge, God knows I will need it. hahah Thank you.

I also want to add that I have not tested every camera and do not know everything there is to know. I will say that a lot of people say the original 6D is actually better than the 6D mark 2 for the purpose of astrophotography due to a higher sensitivity for light. This is usually due to larger pixel sizes, which equates to lower megapixels. It's somewhat counterintuitive, but it actually works out that each pixel is a larger photo site and therefore has a higher likelihood of being hit by a photon of light, allowing for higher sensitivity. I have not tested this myself with the original 6D, so I cannot say this conclusively. But I've been told this by many people, and on many different threads, so I would imagine that they are probably right. It makes sense from a physics standpoint.

probably a scam listing if that was 2 years ago. that said, i would just get the 5d IV, i hear the 6D II has unavoidable led light leak if you h-alpha mod it and go above 800 iso. would be useless for landscape astro at least.
