!! fully qualified instructor is 'Approved Driving Instructor / ADI' and has green octagonal badge (not blue !!). 'Potential Driving Instructor / PDI' has pink triangle badge. PDI has passed the PDI has passed the instructor's theory test and advanced driving test and is working through the p3 'teaching' part of the test process. Badges must be on display during lesson. Ask to have a look at your instructor's badge... has it expired?

Great to mention motorway lessons. Really important to give experience and gain confidence on motorways - they're very different to regular dual carriageways and DVSA allows ADIs in car with dual controls, to take learners on motorways ( you'll need to have had dual c way lessons as prep of course). PDIs are not allowed to deliver motorway lessons to learners, but if you do go with a PDI, you could go back to them after you've passed your test - and they've passed their final test, to go on motorways... If you're speaking with an instructor who can't be bothered with, or can't see the benefit of learners having motorway lessons, then that's a red flag. Go to another instructor !!

Hi, I need some advice on choosing the right driving instructor for me. I am a pretty slow learner and laid-back person especially when it comes to technology. I am a 52-year-old woman and years ago almost a year I have taken driving lessons. Those male driving instructors were very impatient and stressed out while giving me training. that kind of put me off from taking further lessons. I am fully committed to taking lessons again and very positive. I have subscribed to your channel and find you very interesting and confident in how you explain.

Thanks for subscribing! The good news is that there are lots of different driving instructors out there and although demand for lessons is high right now, you should still be able to find one with a teaching style that suits you. My advice would be to look for a female instructor, if that's what you would prefer. And when you first speak to them before booking the lesson, let them know that you want an ADI who is patient and laid back - then, if they accept you as a learner then you should expect just that. Depending on where you are located, you might want to try searching for an Honest Truth ADI - thehonesttruth.co.uk/pages/advanced-driving-instructors - These are instructors who go over and above to deliver road safety advice and are highly skilled teachers. Wishing you all the best!
