Why on earth wouldnt you just titled this magnificent piece of art slightly different? Hey Nick, great video to understand how lenses and their lengths work. What kind of lens should I use on the Sony ZV-E10 II for portrait shots? Use case: Vertical shots of me talking into a camera at my home desk, with heavy bokeh (extremely important)-for Instagram reels. Another detail-there is not a lot of space in the room. The desk is backed up to a wall. The distance to the wall is under 3 feet.
@NicholasJamesJohnson2 ай бұрын
@@sayedhumaid heavy bokeh with less than three feet between you and the wall is a tall order! If you’re just looking for head and shoulders you might be able to do what you want with a 50mm f1.2 or f1.4. If you want more of your body the 30mm f/1.4 will still provide a lot of background blur. Anything wider in that small of a space and you’ll lose the effect.
@sayedhumaid2 ай бұрын
@@NicholasJamesJohnson I really appreciate your response, Nick. Just some more clarity is needed. Because there is a wall, and the camera is on a tripod slightly away from the wall, along with my face and torso with some headroom for any graphics over the head, I want the hands on the desk to be slightly visible (Like someof your shots in this video, but portrait instead). 30mm should do the job for this use case right, right?

The problem I'm running into is that my camera is cutting off the top of my head and most of my torso. I want to achieve the look you have at 3:31 and 3:40. However I am working with a really confined small space and I'm catching hell getting myself in shot the way I want to be. The top of my head is cut off by the camera along with my breast. I can't seem to fit myself within shot the way you do. If I go 16 then its going to show too much background, but the 28 I am using is not fitting me in. UGH! Please help.
@NicholasJamesJohnson13 күн бұрын
Yeah if you have a small room and a 28mm lens that will be tough to get your whole upper body in the shot. Your only choice will be to clean up that back wall and use the 16mm f/1.4. Because your only other option is to back up the camera - but it sounds like you've run out of space.
