I've owned Glock 19s since 1991. Gen 2, two Gen 3s and now a Gen 5. The Gen 2 and 3, I never had a problem shooting but, the Gen 4 and 5s, I was pulling to the left and couldn't seem to correct it no matter what I did. I shot a Gen 3 17 and hit dead on. So I put the large grip with the beavertail on my 19 and I not only shoot dead on, but my long range shots have dramatically improved also. The grip hump is different enough between the 17 and 19 and the large backstrap for the 19 replicates the 17.

I like the medium with the beaver tail as I find have that little bit extra helps to keep the web of my hand from getting beaten up. Which is why the Sig p320 with the giant beavertail is so great for my hand.

I’ve never seen or heard anyone explain trying backstraps for the right fit this way , so good on you for making this video. I would like to see you make a video explaining and trying the varied hand grips pistol shooters use when firing pistols. Some squeeze the life out of pistols grips , some use more grip on with hand or the other, some squeeze 80% with one hand and 20% with the other , some 70% - 30% some 60% - 40% some 50% - 50% etc. I’d like to see what hold you like to use and why. All the best for the New Year , cheers 🍻 🍻.

lets be real here, a human cant determin the difference between a 60% grip and a 70% grip. Look up mojo hes got videos talking about grips and even he said the percentage theory its bullshit.

I've been shooting just a little left with all my Glocks. This video fixes it! I installed the largest backstrap on my Glock 21 Gen 5, & did the squeeze test: ZERO movement left! Thank you! 👊🏻🇺🇸

This was very informative perhaps another thing to consider. I usually wear XL gloves for reference. I found I’ve settled for the smaller grip for my 19x which allowed me to still reach the mag release without fully breaking my grip on reload

I'm pretty much the same when it comes to various pistols require different grips for different styles. My carry G26 Gen4 doesnt have anything other than the molded grip. And, just like every Glock I've handled, it took a few rounds for me to really be proficient with it becuase, even though I have pretty good size hands, but the Glock frame in general is bigger than most other handguns on the market due to the "everything Polymer" rules on frame and magazine. I haven't held the non-finger ridged Glocks enough to know how they fit and feel in my hand. My M&P's though, I will use a medium or large backstrap on them, depending on whether I'm shooting 9mm or 40S&W/.357Sig. With 9mm, usually shooting 124gr, I find no real need to enlarge the grip and have gotten accustomed to it with the added benefit that both the wife and I can easily and instinctively use each others carry pistol, when I choose to carry the M&P. For the higher pressure and more robust rounds like the 40/.357, I need a little bit more grip and will use one of the Backstraps. I did the same thing with my 1911, shortly after I bought it. I found, with the flat Mainspring housing, I was shooting low. I changed to a original style Arched MSH and my shots were point on. That, along with Hogue rubber grips added that needed palm swell that allowed me to better handle the pistol and reduce any unnecessary movement when aiming. But, for revolver shooting, I found the larger grips too big for a strong 3 fingered grip. My very 1t pistol purchase, back in 89, was a 4 inch 686. It came with the Rose wood target stocks and I found them too large. I eplaced them with the thinner Hogue grips and they didn't come off for years, until I got a good price on a couple of the Pachmyer grips and I now interchange between them.

It would be great if you would go one step further and explain how the finger should rest on the trigger once the correct grip is established. Nice explanation.

Finger placement is more subjective because everyone has different sized fingers, hands, and bones. So it's more about proper techniques and consistency and wherever your finger feels the most natural when it comes to the trigger. Ps I'ma new shooter and just going off of an instructors words.

I like the way the gen 3 Glocks fit my hand more than a gen 4 with a medium back strap. I also like Talon grips.

I have a g23g4 and don't use the straps, I was just putting them on and trying them and I'm not sure if I like any of them , or without them either but I'm pretty much on point with it.... I'll have to bring them to the range next time 🎯

I was hoping you would talk about the beavertail because my hands are large and if I don't run the beaver tail on a Glock the slide can take a chunk out. I would rather hold the gun without a back strap so I may modify one. Thanks for the other information.

My problem is I want to buy a Walther PDP but all the local gun stores have them on display with the medium back strap. The medium is too big but I really like the gun and all the amazing things I’ve heard about it. I have a feeling the gun will feel nice in the hand after swapping the medium with the small once I get it but I’m just concerned that it still won’t be small enough.

Thanks for the great video. Also hit up the Simpson's. Your voice sounds like Marge's, except the male version. Maybe they'd want to introduce her brother or something in an episode.
