In this video we will go over the different types and feels of leather barber strops for straight razors. We cover Horse, Kangaroo, Bridle and Latigo barber strops and how a razor will interact with the leathers. We will also go over how canvas strop materials interact with a razor. We cover Fire hose and Cotton canvas strops along with the different leather strops.

Hobby lobby leather will get you by but it’s definitely lower quality. It all depends what you’re using it for too.

Rusty NewsNowNorCal honestly the only way to learn is to try it. Gold dollar straight razors are cheap enough that you can get an okay razor for $25 with a really good edge on it. They’re $10 from China but a lot of Americans will put new edges on them and resell them for 25. You can find them on eBay. You can also buy a straight razor that has replaceable razors. It takes the same razor that a double edge razor uses but it’s only one side of it. If you want to email me I can help you more and it’ll be more convenient to talk through email. 👍🏻

I have 2 5/8’s and I just bought a beginner strop from amazon. It’s a Naked Armor Blue Eel Linen/ Leather. But that one is too small and I have to do the X strokes. My next one I want to get a little bit more quality and I want the leather to be wide enough to where I don’t have to do the X strokes. What size should I get?

The horse from razor emporium is super quiet and fast I don’t like it. I like the middle of the road drawls. Their Black invoice bridal is more of my style

Everyone has their own preferences. I’ve come to love kangaroo the best out of all leathers. Over time preferences change and it’s nice to have options. The good thing about razor emporium is, no matter what you buy, it’s good quality.
