Putting installation effort aside .... is oil cooled only better than oil and coolant cooled?

Ryan Reynolds you make a good point! I would say oil cooled is better in every way unless you are hot lapping for a long period of time. It might make sense to have a water cooled turbo in that case, however you would need a bigger radiator!

I like the set up for the top mount turbo but unfortunately there's no kits available out there to have it all together so that it would make it easy for the whole install set up and so to me made sense to look into what corksport came out with their whole kit set up that made things very smooth all together and also very good quality in my opinion plus their new exhaust many is really amazing and with 600+hp proof and at such an awesome price 😀

Raquiel Cross you make a very good point. It is hard to piece all the parts together! The new corksport exhaust manifold is quite compelling! It is worth looking at without a doubt! I believe it is vband as well.

speedlife madzela hey I feel that brotha, used is the way to go. If you get a journal bearing turbo you can get a 5858 for around 600$. This is a good working condition one

speedlife madzela sadly I haven’t driven it yet. I’d have a video on it if I drove it. But since it’s ball bearing I bet it’s crazy fast spool. For the journal bearing 5858 I had before it spooled plenty fast. Like full boost by 4k rpm

Is there a turbo besides the ko4 that just bolts up and a tune is not needed, That performs better than stock? My turbo blew but I’m tight on money but ko4 turbos seem to be trash any suggestions?

Cristian Salgado no you can go top mount and big turbo. I had my 5858 on my stock block. Just expect the torque to be a little low. It’s more fun in my opinion though.

Damn it...I have a BNRs3 useless turbo 😭 I was actually looking at buying a precision 5858 just like yours when I first started looking at turbos but I just didn’t have the money and my main goal was just to get rid of the stock turbo because I wasn’t hearing good things about it

Runeflame hey I didn’t mean to bag on the bnr s3. It’s still a good turbo and still better than stock. I just meant it’s not a big power gainer. In some ways it’s better because it spools so fast. The work to install the turbo is the hardest part. If you don’t mind installing it than it’s really not that bad. Have you enjoyed it so far and does it seem to be pretty quick?

Steven Devey I had a shop install it for me when they swapped the engine so idk how hard it was for them to do it but if the engine is out I would assume it’s gonna be a little easier, I can’t really tell how the turbo is affecting my power so far because I’m still working with Freektune to try and get my tune where it needs to be but the turbo does spool super fast and so far I have no complaints about it, it also makes a lot more noise than the stock K04 :) :)

Can’t go twin scroll with a vband😆 need to talk about turbo sizing and compromising power and response/ drivability. Is this a strait line monster or a controllable canyon ripper?

Jack Liston you make a very good point brotha jack. However this is both a straight line monster and a canyon ripper. Don’t get me started on the twin scroll! Gas mileage is more important and I do believe the vband will be more efficient!
