This is the first time I've seen any content you've made, first time on your channel, and I'm already so relieved and grateful! My homeschooler and I are pretty much alone in the world, the area we live in has absolutely nothing to offer for people educating children outside of the "free and appropriate" (lol) and I've started out by recognizing where he's at in respect to the subjects, we're just trying to master them fully & develop skills that help through hard times. Honestly, our whole life had to be restructured by the time we left public schools, more than halfway through his first year, and we've embraced a life that's more aligned with the polyvagal theory's ideas. I've been learning as much as I can about brain body parenting, how to co-regulate and listen to our bodies, to become more overall capable & healthy learners. But as this has really started to take off and make us more capable of absorbing information, I've started wondering, "well, what's next? There's lots and lots of trauma to work through from that very short time but I can't use all of that energy to celebrate healing--- I have to stay ahead of the game!"

Hugs. Our story of school had trauma too. My son despite all of mommy's early mistakes is now happy and enjoys life. I'd take that over anxiety driven anger and depression any day. Keep striving Momma! One hundred percent your kiddo is better off! I'm so glad you found some relief! Hugs again!

I really appreciate your videos and your encouraging words. I so agree that we need to rely on God to guide our homeschool.

Thank you for words of encouragement! God has been pulling at my heart to homeschool my kids. I have been afraid but I am trusting in him. There times that I ask if I am doing enough for my autistic boys.

It's such a challenge but God gave your boys to you and He is not going to give you that job without equipping you! Hugs

I forgot to mention...doing enough for our boys is whatever God tasks you to do. It's very easy to be tempted to carry more than God asks us to do. Cast your cares on Him and his burden will be ease and his yoke will be light. Hugs again.

Just came across this video, and it is so encouraging. I just had a conversation with my mom yesterday about this--focusing on what my son needs, rather than struggling along the traditional "school path" as you say. Also prayer, yes, very important ❤❤

I'm so glad you found this video! Hugs. Sometimes in the slog it's hard to remember that God knows our children, loves our children even more than we do! He will guide you straight and true. Hugs

Thank you so much😢 your words of encouragement ment so much, it has been overwhelming for me, this year is 4th grade for us, & it has not been going the way i expected, but just hearing you, brought a sence of peace, thank you for reminding me that we're not alone...God bless you & your family ❤

Big huge hugs! God calls us not because we are perfect and ready to handle everything but because He asked and is equipping us. It's okay if there's no manual because the King of Kings leads us and I'm glad He knows everything! 😂 hugs again

Praise The Lord! I have been praying to find content like this! 👏 You are so sweet spirited and I see how The Lord is sustaining you MaMa! Thank you for this encouraging video I have a total of 5 and our middle child is 5 & autistic. She has gone to ABA as that was Gods timing and has brought her to a point where her attention span has increased greatly! Thank you again for this!

This is helpful. I’m a certified teacher and considering homeschooling my neurodivergent son next year. I have noticed there’s not a ton of special needs curriculum and what there is available would require a lot of adjustments and money.

I'm so glad you found this video helpful! I'm still adjusting curriculum to fit my son and I think that will be a life long process! It's very difficult for curriculum writers to meet the needs of typical children nevermind neurodivergent students! Thank you for the comment!

Im so lost. My daughter has autism and wondering what you mean by choosing curriculum? I keep seeing homeschooling schools that dont seem to be a good fit. :( i feel defeated
@homeschoolautismlife Жыл бұрын
First off ....huge hugs! There is such a big learning curve when starting to homeschool a special needs child. Most curriculum is not made specifically for Autism so anything and everything you purchase you may need to adapt to your child. I understand that you feel defeated but if I can encourage you in anyway...give yourself grace to figure out what might work best for you both. It may take trial and error until you land on something that works. If I can make two recommendations...first check out the Autism treatment center of America. They aren't specifically academic based but they can help you understand autism and how to help your child better than any other methodologies I've found. More on the academic front check out So Happy to Learn. It was made originally for children with Down Syndrome but I use it with my 15yr old son... modified of course.
