I work with duel monitors, and I prefer to place the main one straight directly to my face, and the second one at an angle the side. It helps reducing the neck pain if placing them that way.

One tip if you're using dual monitor setup: put the main monitor border slightly over the other monitor border. You eliminate one border doing that

hello. about the 27" that you said need to zoom or text is a little small it is because of the P.P.I (pixel per inch ) so when the ppi is near 120 its good. in 27" to 32" just 2k is ok and for 4k you should use at leats 36" monitor. so 2x32" 4k has still small fonts.

Hello, first of all, I want to thank you for your videos; they have been extremely influential in helping me decide which monitor to purchase. I recently bought the Dell Ultrasharp 40" 5K, just like yours, largely thanks to this video. However, as I start working with it, I have some questions about the screen settings. The main question I have is whether you typically use Smart HDR in Desktop mode, Movie HDR, Game HDR, Display HDR 600, or leave it off? Additionally, in the same section, what settings do you prefer for Sharpness (50), Uniformity Compensation (Off), and under the Color Menu, what Preset Modes (Standard, Movie, Game, Color Temp, Color Space, Custom Color) do you find most suitable for an archviz environment? I also have some questions about Brightness/Contrast settings. Do you use Auto Brightness when configuring renders? And do you keep Auto Color Temperature On or Off? I know this is a lot of questions, but these settings drastically affect how the image is perceived on the monitor, which in turn influences the decisions I make regarding material and lighting setup in a scene. I would really appreciate any insights you can share so I can make the most out of this new acquisition. I truly value all the support you’ve provided, and I hope you continue creating this valuable content that has helped me and many others. Best regards.

Have you found the answer to using 2D CAD on a curved monitor??? Hey. I also use 3ds max and other 3d software in my work. I'm currently using a dual 27" setup but I've been thinking about a curved ultrawide. The only thing holding me back is the curve itself. As I sometimes have to work with a high degree of precision I'm worried that the curve of the monitor will screw up my perception of lines that should otherwise look straight. Have you had any issues with this? How would you describe your experience with straight lines on a curved screen?

@@alexandrumihai6092 nah, i actually did end up getting one with minimal curve 32:9 and it's totally fine. I use powertoys to create zones and the modeling window is now centered and just the right size so the curve is barely noticeable. I leave the left and right side of the screen for secondary windows and it's awesome. My old crt had a bigger curve and I would always drag stuff at the bottom of the screen to see if it lines up with the bezel so I would know lines are straight. No such problems here. 😁

When you are using the 27" 4k, which Display scale do you use? 100%, 150%, 200%? And how it will perform the frame buffer?. A 1080p render will be like too small, it will only fit the 25% area of your screen if you use 100% display scale on a 4k screen. Icons will be pretty small, and rendering 4k all the time it will take four times the render time. I'm still on a 2k world, constantly working on 720p and 1080p during the process, and rendering in 4k just for finals. I have a pretty fast feedback doing it by this. I think switching to 4K, and using 100% display scale, it will slow down my workflow 4 times. Thanks!

@@NemanjaPanov-iq2uy Hi Panov, I did the jump a couple of month ago. I bought two 27" 4k, using one vertical on the side. In terms of Interface Scale, using 100% and 125% depens on what I'm doing. If I'm reading a lot I go for 100%, if I'm just drawing I go for 125%. In Max 2023 there are some icons that doesn't scale perfectly, Max 2024 supposed to be better. Also this will happen in some old windows apps like Greenshot, your old scanner app, etc. But it's ok, you can live with it. And in therms of workflow, still rendering 720p 1080p during the process and it looks good how The VFB interpolate pretty good. And watching the 4k finals on a 4k display is optimal. It is true that 1080p renders looks sharper on a 1080p display. The best of the 4k world, maybe it is not imaging, it's the Text! Reading from the computer on a 4k display is priceless!

@@realrender Hey man, thanks for the answer. I also jumped on x3 27''4k monitors, but honestly think there is no need for more than 2k on this size. On the other PC I use 49'' Dell monitor, which is really good, especially because no need for calibrating when you have a couple monitors. I have a spyder calibrator, but it is not as good as on commercial. If there is some really good reason for 4k I would like to know 😀

@@NemanjaPanov-iq2uy I've never tried 2k monitors for reading text. Maybe some day. In my country 2k monitors are as expensive as 4k, so I went to 4k. Nvidia has an AI upscaling in Nvidia control panel, you can DSLL 1080p youtube videos to 4k. Also VLC 1080 or W Media Player to 4k AI. When I got one 1440p monitor years ago, I suffer with two things: Corona Interactive Renderer, because of the higher resolution, I see images smaller than I used to see. And, to see any type of images, because is smaller. My question is, in a 4K monitor, I guess this is worst because of the resolution. How did you manage that? especially in the interactive rendering. Thanks!

What do you think of the self-calibrating Eizo monitors? I often have the feeling that my post-processed renders only look "right" on MY monitor, but too pale or contrasty on others...
@the_irav
@the_irav Жыл бұрын
You need to soft-proof or master your content for the intended colour space you'd be designing for. If you do professional work, you can't go wrong with Eizo. I have a CS2730 (not-self calibrating, but same panel as the CG line) and I love it. Unfortunately it's 2560x1440, which is why I'm here watching her video as I want to upgrade to 4K or maybe precisely 5K2K@40". There are a few 4K / 31" versions of Eizos out there, but they can be expensive. (Like $5,000 or more depending on where you live). Personally, I LOVE the ability to flick a button and change my color calibration, mimicking my output target, so from Adobe RGB I can jump to sRGB in a hot second, and I can also create custom profiles which I have one for less brightness within Adobe RGB and the other one for photo printing. I once got really good feedback from a photo lab around where I live (Sydney, Australia) as the photos I was printing were like just perfectly balanced and just ready to go. Some prints just look amazing. I've done wedding albums and bespoke portraits and the colour I've managed I believe it was only because of the ability to soft-proof. These days, however, I might say that unless you really have the spare budget, you do work in professional environments where colour accuracy is very important (I'd argue that general youtube content is NOT one of them. But if your content does require it, then yes), or any other possible combination there, then spending so much money in an Eizo might not be worth it. BenQ is making REALLY good monitors at really good prices, so if you're in a budget, maybe check those out. ( I'd might suggest checking the knowledge section from imagescience.com.au -- I bought my Eizo from them and although I have zero affiliation, I learnt so much from their website that I just can't not mention them - they also mention the BenQ monitors as a very viable option) Then, for ultra wide formats you're simply at a loss with AdobeRGB (if you need it / doubt it) as I haven't seen any around that pulls it off. The vast majority go as far as DCI-P3, which is probably the more appropriate option if you're doing screen (non-print) work. (Adobe RGB will be more on the photo side). You could try and find something that does Rec.2020, but it gets hard. (and I doubt the use other than cinema) And anyways, other than gamut, profiling capabilities could be deemed as more important. As I mentioned before, soft-proofing your work and mastering it for the intended output is super important. If a monitor cannot have different colour profiles, then I'd suggest having an alternate monitor to preview your work before publishing. You could even have a cheap-o 4K monitor doing sRGB and have a secondary with a wide gamut to preview the output in full quality. In the audio industry, audio engineers (how I started) normally have different sets of speakers; near field, medium, far and very likely a sh*tbox speaker somewhere in the studio as well. While mastering, the engineer would run the mix through all of them, and find the common ground between all, so the final mix is heard 'well enough' in any system. Perfect experience across the board is LITERALLY impossible. (because... physics) Very often there will be different versions tailored for different 'playback' environments (audio/photo/video) For vision things (photo/video/renders) works the same. Each monitor will have its own gamma curve nuances, contrast ratios, dynamic range, etc. So testing is very important. For my photo work I even have a couple of crappy Dell 1080p monitors around. I would also check any photo on my phone, tablet, TV or any screen I can get my hands on. You get the idea. If your work is going to be viewed in a regular sRGB monitor, then create a master for that space. If your work is going to be viewed in a high quality cinema environment, then create a master for that environment. The easiest is to go with the bland sRGB/Rec.709 as the vast majority of people still have crappy screens or buy the cheapest 4K TV without any knowledge of colour management. There are exception, obviously, but again, I don't know what kind of renders you do so I'm just giving generic advice... -- long comment and 6 months after you posted, and sorry if you already knew all this... but if it hits it hits, and if it doesn't.... it doesn't. ;) Have a good one!
