thx for wonderful post asusual. Sir , How to calculate the "months/years required" for the Gilt fund to show NAV changes ? ( meaning how much time it takes to recover from falling NAV once the interest rate shoots up... i was going thru your Debt fund guidelines free e book. slightly got confused. can u pls assist ? also enlighten about yield to maturity - u said its not interest measure for the debt fund. but its the risk measure ? waht i understood is that how much interest it will give if all the bond holding that it has till its maturity period,,, may be i am wrong....

@@pattufreefincal: Inspite of doing bank rd with 6% i hoped it will provide at least 9% & some security with all AAA rated bonds, for a period of 5 years. now I feel that RBI will soon increase interest rate, this may finally reduce guilt fund return below rd level. I may be wrong and I have started doing sip in MFs from Feb,2020.

@@Ykcirocks What i understood is gilts are for long term atleast 15 years goal... with proper re balancing when the NAV fluctuates according to Interest rate fluctuates.... becaz its volatility is more for the ROI change.. to get benefit out this change, we need to give time for the gilt fund to show NAV raise and then proper profit booking ( rebalancing toime to time) Pattu sir pls do correct me if i am wrong

@@iyappansivanandam3439 Thank you for your guidance. I used to know that equity funds are for long term (8-12 years) and bond funds for short term (3-5 years)

If you are recommending that to avoid redemption risk a close ended scheme should be the way to go. But that is similar or same as FMP and we all know what happened with their performance which were once flavour of the day
