Bought a new laptop a few months back. It’s a Dell XPS15 9560. It has a 16gb RAM, core i7 7th generation and GTX 1050 and a 4k display with ultra thin bezels. It’s really the closest thing to a perfect laptop.

Surviving Architecture Lmao I know right! like you said though, unfortunately it’s a high end computer but it’s definitely worth it. I have absolutely no complaints. Excellent build quality, and it runs really smoothly with all my renderings and other related softwares. All that power in such a slim form factor. Recommendations are good, but I'd also like to recommend the Lenovo Yoga C930 or S730. They're slim, compact and easy to use and not that expensive. I think they cost around $1200. 16gb ram, SSD storage. They do cut back in graphics as they have an Intel UHD 620 Graphics card but its still good.

Graphics 1660ti laptops or gtx1070 has good value, i7 8750, ssd at least 250gb and 1tb hdd would be good. Minimum 16gb ram. Asus, Acer and Lenovo are good. HP laptops use to break easy 10 years ago , not sure how they are now. If you can afford and if you need extra storage , a cloud storage for other files to keep. I like dropbox o and google drive in terms of quick syncing.
@giuseppenativo21235 жыл бұрын
Liking your channel, I'm sorry to say that this video is under your average. You wrote and proposed things that have no sense at all. You talk about rendering, ok? There are different kinds of renderings, with different tools. You made a complete list with the best software on the market but after...you propose notebooks with U CPU, and very low-end graphics cards. How should I work with Revit/Archicad (where the first is a single core user and the latter a multi-core. Anyway two extremely demanding software), sometimes with Autocad (a useless and prehistoric software, especially if you are using BIM software) and finally render in V ray or Maxwell or Lumion? These software work just on the GPU and your machines they have not decent GPUs. Do you wanna render with an 8 GB of RAM, MX 940 and an i5 7th or 8th gen U series? Are you serious? You will take 3 days to render an image that, after 2 hours of settings, probably is going to be ugly and you have to restart, blocking the machine (U CPUs makes "bottleneck") for other three days. Don't go for used notebooks, unless you find a 2/3 years old mobile workstation, better with Quadro cards. Those list of computer is crap. You need a good real CPU, lots of RAM and a good GPU. Don't buy 5200 rpm HDDs, they don't last. Go for SSD or I can tell you that exists another kind of memory, called NVMe. The fastest and more durable on the market. Data are precious for students, practically their life. It's the best investment today. Do the best thing, buy a good desktop for the real work, as every IT manager on Campus suggests and a cheaper notebook to show the work, to print and to work with drafting software. Today you can pay an amazing AMD Ryzen 7, 2nd gen for hundreds of euros. They are Battle machines with a long lifespan, thanks to the very powerful hardware. On youtube, there are lots of videos about "the best laptop/desktop for Architecture" and the most propose old hardware cause they don't know the products and the market. I'm sorry to be harsh but your video is not accurate and when you want to give tips and suggestions to thousands of people you must know very very well the things you are going to publish. I wish you are going to redo this video after better research.
@yaram88385 жыл бұрын
Giuseppe Nativo you’re so right!👏👏👏
@SurvivingArchitecture5 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry that you feel this way, but I won't do the video again. Don't insinuate that I have not done the research I even asked my lecturers and these are the requirements they recommended and if you check the reviews on these machines they are amazing and these requirements have worked perfectly for me as an architecture student for 4 years. If you don't like what I recommended you are not obligated to buy them. These laptops are for students and not professionals as I mentioned in the video, they are more aimed at the first year, (whom might not even have a 3D building or renders) the second and third year which might not have full experience and might not know all architectural software out there. And lastly, this a budget laptop video and I wanted them to stay under 1000 pounds. Thank you for watching :)
@giuseppenativo21235 жыл бұрын
@@SurvivingArchitecture Thanks for your answer. For sure I'm not going to buy any of those laptops, they are truly not amazing at all. More, I still don't understand how you produced that list. After that, I will underline that I've never written that you didn't spend any time in researching but that it brought to a confusing and poor choice of laptops where the best is a TUF, enough old as the others. With 1000 pounds you can buy better and newer stuff if you really want a laptop as your only working machine. I always suggest having a back up cause no one lend notebooks when you need one. As I said you show a full list of very powerful and demanding software and I really can't believe that you moved Revit for four years with a 6th Gen ultrabook. Or that you render without problems with Maxwell and VRay or Lumion. My point of view. I've never seen an ultrabook in my schools to accomplish design tasks and I didn't attend Harvard, believe me. No Ph.D. assistant has an ultrabook and they would never suggest it as a working machine and investment for your present and your future years. If you find hard to believe me go to the MIT IT campus manager for new year specs. Hardly they will suggest low configurations, HP laptops or laptops with no discrete GPUs. Instead, they suggest good desktop PCs and cheap notebooks, the opposite of what you do. I agree with them. I repeat again and strongly, that my point is about the fact that when you want to publish videos with suggestions, shopping suggestions, you need to be very prepared about the topic. Internet, friends, and lecturers don't coincide with your knowledge and experience and mostly with your interest/passion/needs about the market, the last hardware and the best specs, primarily for yourself and maybe after for the others. Thanks a lot for your time.

I have checked the specification for that laptop and it seems that its an i5 if im not mistaken. If you do want to get it, get one with ( i7 with 256GB SSD, 8GB Ram and 2GB dedicated graphics card) or more. I hope that helps!

You should change the title, it should be "How to choose the best laptop for a Rich Architecture student"

These are the cheapest I found that will work for architecture. Laptops are expensive I am afraid but that's why I said you can buy them second hand which is what I did with my current laptop

Mac no tiene comparación con calidad, definición del color y alivio para los ojos... cuando trabajas tantas horas en un proyecto realmente valoras mucho eso, espero que os sirva 😘 ( if someone can traslate what i written, this would u all a favor, ‘cause its tooo early nos and im so asleep to do it hahahaha 😂😂😘😘😘)
