Maybelline does not carry the shade 128 in the fit me matte powder, so what do you set your face with? translucent powder?

I’m so happy to hear that! I usually mix and match powders and foundations. I like Laura Mercier powder and Ben Nye (white transparent one). I usually use loose powder to set things with and for touch ups I do pressed powder. 😘

Yes! 😘 You want your face and body to match. I have the opposite situation, where my body is darker because I apply self-tanner and I always make sure to use a foundation which matches my body. Great question btw! 💕

i do swatch research too. in store i can never find a shade with the same undertone but a tad darker than revlons colorstay in buff everything looks too orange.

I've tried several different foundations and shades. I've really honestly never worn much foundation either because I have always found that alot of my choices have always looked orangey on my skin or it has been too light. What am I doing wrong and what do you recommend??

Also, I have oily skin on my face so I like to get a matte finish in foundation. I just recently tried Cover Girl Clean Matte bb cream for oily skin in medium. It just did not look good on me. It did not have a nice looking finish.

Tabitha Phillips I really like the it cosmetics CC cream. I have oily skin also (I’m almost 47) it’s a medium coverage and evens out skin tones and gives you a nice finish, not matte and not too dewy. I use medium. I apply with a damp beauty blender. I do have redness around the nose from broken blood vessels and some melasma on my chin and will use a little concealer there , I like the tarte concealer foundation for that. I have recently started also trying color correction rather than too much product layering. The IT CC also doesn’t oxidize a lot I found some brand to turn darker and more orange after application (like urban decay naked). I don’t want a full face of makeup I just want to even my skin tone. i don’t know if u ever figured out something in regards to this. i had the exact same problem. if i went up in shade it would make the foundation look grey on my skin. i found out i’m neutral and not warm toned. hence the issue with foundation being either orange or looking grey on my face with lighter warm shade

You’re probably a neutral! The red could accentuate redness in the skin or the eyes and therefore not look as good. 😘
