I was left some money in my mums will so decided to enjoy a bit of it. I went to the Anderson guitar gallery last Monday and had a fantastic few hours with Paul guiding me through lots of different and wonderful guitars. A fantastic experience and one that I was a little apprehensive about! I have been playing for a long time but haven't bought a new guitar for a very long time and certainly nothing expensive! Treated myself to a Martin J40 and absolutely over the moon with it! Thanks andertons

Or 20 years ago. Or people in stores that are knowledgeable and that care about your needs as opposed to trying to sell as much as they can.

Wonderful, informative video. One thing I would add for the first time buyers, if you do go for an acoustic/electric with a pickup: many times simply having a chord plugged in to the guitar will activate the pre-amp and draw power from the battery. Don’t ask me how I know or how many batteries I’ve been through. Just get in the habit of unplugging after playing. Couldn’t agree more with comfort while playing being priority number one.

A short primer about acoustic guitars is useful but a beginner should do a deep dive into guitar construction and repair. I recommend a KZbin channel by Jerry Rosa that has many years of guitar repair. I'm not saying everyone needs to become a luthier but the more you know about acoustic guitars the better. So much about guitars is hidden and it takes a lot to learn how to find what you need to know. I bought a good mid-range guitar. The saddle was loose and the nut fell off. I knew how to replace both for a minimal cost. Others would need to take the guitar to a luthier which would add a lot of cost to the original cost. Replacement wouldn't be included in a basic setup.

well if you are a beginner to learn choose a guitar with wide neck. It doesn't matter if it's a classical guitar with nylon 3 strings or acoustic with all metal strings. Never choose a guitar with narrow neck,narrow neck have narrow space and narrow space to feel the string, so as a beginner, you know what I mean. Here body doesn't matter because you are not going to marry your guitar.

My advice would be to go to a pawn shop and buy the cheapest guitar you can find in a decent condition. Then if you find you keep playing and want a better guitar, you're going to be in a much better position to decide on the long-term purchase.

I would like a guitar that doesn't sound very loud, not to play in concerts or in front of everyone, just for myself, I live in an apartment by myself, cannot make much noise, I want to get home, play some melodies on it, not rhythmic sounds, just letting my feelings flow however I feel, making some beautiful sounds from it, relax while I play my guitar in my living room, on my bed, like an intimate companion to pour my heart into it.

Putting my acoustic guitar on a wall hanger has definitely caused me to play it more often. When it lived in a case, I often times passed it over because it seemed like a hassle to have to get it out.

Make sure it has a low-action. Every guitar manufacturer claims their guitar has this but it's seldom true. For a beginner guitarist it is very important. A high action makes finger shifting and holding notes hard, with big chances to stuff up.

What does low action even mean
@Fiasco32 күн бұрын
@@Steve19906 Strings down lower (gap between string and guitar) on the fretboard, easier to press/play notes. Less chance of them sounding off.

Would love to see a video where you compare how acoustics react to posture! Slugged over sitting down and having a lot of your body making contact with the guitar vs standing up straight vs standing up with a strap. How much resonance is affected by the body?

I haven’t decided to be an acoustic guitar necessarily because electric and bass also sound awesome and I don’t know what I would want to try first in a guitar store.

If you had no budget what guitar would you buy?
@stoneysdead689 Жыл бұрын
Hmm- see that's kind of a hard question to answer. When I first read it, I started thinking "O.k. what do I not have that I want?" But then it hit me- this is a onetime purchase, no budget type deal so- it shouldn't be based on what you have or don't but instead be whatever your dream guitar is- whether you need another electric or not. So, if I look at it like that- probably a custom shop Strat. But- if I look at it like what do I not have that I would want- a Les Paul. I already have a good Strat. Or maybe you meant acoustic- in that case- a Martin D28- without a doubt. That said- the Cordoba C10 gut string is an amazing guitar I would love to have as well. I just don't play classical or jazz much anymore- but if I still did, the Cordoba would be it for sure.
