Class video, how do you get the tail to lift out the water? I can get the front up high, but can never seem to get the fins out the water?
@SurfingWithNoz3 жыл бұрын
Thank you bro! When lifting the front up, you’ll do that by pushing down on your back foot. Then it’s like a sweeping motion with your back foot that swings the tail around to where the nose was originally pointing. Just make sure you’re rotating fast enough and the board should follow

Do you scoop with your back foot and toes at all? Advice on how to get back of board out of the water?
@SurfingWithNoz3 жыл бұрын
It’s hard to explain while I’m not actually doing it. But you do use your back foot to swing the tail around. I try not to over-analyse it otherwise it gets too confusing, but I think that’s a good question. There is probably a sub-conscious scoop of the back foot, mainly for rotation
@Cuisinenomade12 жыл бұрын
What would be, according to your experience, good dimentions to start on a short board (for small waves), coming from a mid-length (7'6" 54 Liters), for someone 5'10 and 150 pounds (175cm/66 kl)? 30 liters ok or too big of a gap? I have a little idea but i would like to know your thoughts. Do I explain myself?
@SurfingWithNoz2 жыл бұрын
Hey mate! Luckily I’m almost the exact same height/weight as you. I ride 5’7 (few inches shorter) and 25L but if it’s your first time on a shortboard the more the merrier. I think 30L is a bit small for your level but I guess if you go much bigger you may struggle duckdiving. A big mistake people make is going too small, to get better at surfing fast, the most important thing is catching waves. That’s why extra volume is so helpful. If you go too small you won’t catch as many waves, thus limiting your progression. In your case maybe try a board a few inches bigger than you with plenty of volume. Maybe even 35L as you need to be catching waves. But if you’re unsure, maybe ask friends or shapers (for demo boards) if you can test a board similar to what you’re after. Or just get a cheap 2nd hand one and see how it goes. But yeah just don’t go too low litres 😄 Hope this helps!

Matters quite a bit! If your board is too big it’s hard to manoeuvre, if it’s too small it will sink 😂 I find that volume is the best metric to find the right board for you. I’m 68kg and 5’9/10ish and I ride 5’6/7 boards at 25.5L so if an intermediate surfer was the same height/weight as me I’d recommend they ride around 27L as they will catch more waves and the extra volume will help them maintain speed. I’m going a bit too in-depth haha but yes boards do matter especially for this specific manoeuvre

Do u hav a Holy Toledo smooth star?? If so i have the same one! Its the only way to surf in london 😂
@SurfingWithNoz3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I do haha the all black one. I first had the flying eagle one which they don’t sell, then the flying fish, now the Toledo one. I ruined the front truck at the skatepark (doing airs) so had to buy a new front truck, and mainly just do turns now (what they’re made for 😂) Hahaha yeah mate, you can learn so much on those boards. Easily the closest thing to surfing

Please help me😭 when I land backwards I just fall. I don’t spin around. What must I do ?
@SurfingWithNoz2 жыл бұрын
Hey bro, You’re probably not leaning enough on your toes and your front foot. Keeping the weight forward will help lift the tail and disengage the fins 🤙🏽
