Everyday BBQ & Cooking - There was a place up here in Wisconsin and I believe they had some in IL. as well that was called Geri's Hamburgers. They actually used Dill Pickle Juice to clean there flat top grill every night before they closed. I had a friend that worked there and we watched them clean it one night. Give it a try.

Yup I use plain water to clean cast iron pans. Same concept applies to griddles. It is water AND soap to avoid cleaning with.
@scottytodd9552 жыл бұрын
I use oil. Just keep wiping it until the paper towel isn't as dirty after I get the chunks off using the scraper. Never thought of using water. I always thought water would unseason it. Hardest part was getting the new off it when I first bout it. Only owned it for 3 days and I love it.
@starrymooneyАй бұрын
wonder if paper towels is the wrong move for when the griddle is new. With the grittier surface when new, i notice there are tons of tiny bits of paper towel all over the surface after cleaning. I can't really get them off with the scraper....Rags?
@michaelserna-s5xАй бұрын
Have to admit.. this is why I got rid of my Blackstone.. takes a lot of commitment to keep clean and seasoned. Especially if you don’t use often enough. For my family, I can do almost everything with a frying pan on the stove. It was definitely fun for a while though.
@SOU31205 ай бұрын
Great video! I recently rediscovered your channel and wanted to check this video out specifically and ask; how has using cooking spray worked out for you over the years? I hear/see a lot of people talk about buildup from sprays and how they're awful for these surfaces. I typically use regular canola oil or Crisco for my Blackstone but if you've had good results with spray oil I may move to that.
@EverydayBBQ5 ай бұрын
@@SOU3120 I have been using it for 6 to 7 years with no issues. You don’t want to use too thick of a coat just a little spray to make sure you cover the whole surface and of course the key is cleaning it properly before you spray that I think most people don’t take the time to properly clean before they coat it with spray and then they blame it on the spray instead of their laziness.

Lime juice can get all that stuff over there and a regular wet hand towel works good for wiping it down
@marypb80477 ай бұрын
Is that straight canola or does that spray have the other ingredients that makes stuff sticky?
@GrantLackey2 жыл бұрын
Rags work so much better that paper towels, but then they are hard to clean. Paper towels always leave lint on the surface for me. Edit: wipeall shop rags work well. They leave a little lint but you can then do the final wipe with a kitchen rag after it's already mostly clean. Then you don't ruin your kitchen rags. 👍🏻

I find water to be the best cleaner on my polished cast iron lodge pan (not a griddle, but same concept obviously). Just a bit of water and a nylon scraper and everything just comes off. Super easy. I know some have said if stuff is real stuck to warm up the pan and use water, much like you did here. I’ve never found the need. I have a good amount of seasoning passes on my polished pan so it’s a cinch to clean.
