Two additional tips: USE Nitrile gloves, so you don’t absorb the solvents or oils and smell like them. USE PLENTY of ventilation, so don’t fill your house with CLP or lubricant odor while your better half might be cooking. Seriously. You want to be responsible and respectful. Otherwise it’s like trying to eat supper in a gas station.

I would highly recommend doing this outside if you can or with a lot of ventilation. I made the mistake of cleaning my Glock inside and even with windows open the solvent still smelled very strong. I always do it outside since then.

Very helpful, thanks. I am a new gun owner. Is there a cleaning kit that is available and you'd recommend that has all the tools, lubes, etc.?
@brentkemper117610 ай бұрын
If you haven’t found one yet, Id recommend going to a range/gun sale place and looking for gun cleaning kits. The ones at the place i go are based on caliber. For example for my glock 45 i recently purchased(haven’t gotten to pick up yet) i purchased a kit for 9mm pistols. For my Taurus PT1911 i already own i purchased a kit for 45 caliber pistols. It generally comes with all of what she showed in this video with the exception of the cleaning pads.

The only parts I’m concerned with is the trigger mechanism housing and trigger and trigger bar assembly area. So much build up gets in there and I’m not focused or patient enough to take all the internals out and put them back in correctly. Is there an easy and materially safe way to flush out those areas? I don’t want to leave water in there and risk rusting anything and flushing with gun oil seems like I would have oil running out for days. Anybody have tips for cleaning out the internals?
@djrain1555 Жыл бұрын
You ever find a way to clean internals? just got a new glock 17 gen5 n trying to keep everything clean
@CSAcrazy Жыл бұрын
@@djrain1555 just gotta take everything down and do it the thorough way, plenty of videos on here to Follow the steps it’s not too bad. Luckily with glocks though you can go 1,000-2,000 rounds before you have to consider cleaning trigger assembly and striker internal area thoroughly

The bore needs a lot more attention than that. There was no brush used and the slotted jag that was used does an inferior job of making contact with the bore surface. Use a cylindrical jag and follow up with a bronze brush and you’ll see how much more residue was still left in the barrel.
