I owned a hot tub and pool and that definitely was the best way to re-fill a hot tub by using the "balanced" pool water. If I were those homeowner, that tarp over the hot tub would be GONE. There is nothing like sitting in a hot tub and looking up at the stars. :)

Thank you mate. I just found your video how to clean and fill hot tub. I just bought an old home with a hot tub and never owned one. So, I try to search a video how to maintain it. Your video helps me a lot. Now I'm ready to clean and fill water in my hot tub. My teenage daughter bugs me to do it because she wants to use it. It is 49 deg F or 9.44 deg C outside in Washington, DC now. You sounds like Australian guy.

This is the right way to clean a hot tub but an important step missed. You didn't clean the internal pipes or pumps? That's where all the gross stuff is, you have to pull the filters add a pipe and pump cleaner then run the tub for hours if you can 24 hours to get all the build up out of the plumbing system.
@bbwachter Жыл бұрын
Apply a few drops of Dawn dish soap to the water before you drain the spa. I then wash the spa with white vinegar and Dawn. Run pump for about 20 minutes, drain and rinse thoroughly. I’m 75 years old now, so I hire the people who bought my pool and spa cleaning business (I trained them) when I sold the business we had over 850 weekly clients and most were with us for 30 years.

Why didnt you flush the pipes out with a cleaner to remove the biofilm lurking in all the pipes?? Also do you sanatise the filter not just rinse with hose water??
@urmomconnor78704 жыл бұрын
I’m pretty sure that filter is just to remove objects from the water not actually chemically treat the water so removing the objects stuck inside of it is sufficient, idk about the pipes though

First time owner, you showed things that confirmed what I was doing was right and you also showed me some nice tips to make my life easier and know that my kiddos can swim in a clean spa. It’d be nice if you could comment on the chemicals and how much chlorine and shock to use. I never know if I’m using too much or too little. Or also when is the right time to replace the filter versus just hosing it down. Great job though mate! I Hope to see more

i personally dont use soap because of the suds. i suggest using a strong vinegar spray in a gardening bottle. a pond ready sump pump also works to help empty. non-phosphate poweder dish soap is good for soaking and spraying down filters in a five gal bucket, i just let them sit overnight to loosen debris thanks for the video very helpful.

Hi , can you please help. we have a similar hot tub and we are trying to find out how to store it safely as we are not planning to use it for 6-8 months. Its winter and temperature is dropping to -7 degrees C, and will be dropping even lower. We have water in it at the moment and the water temp setting is 15 degrees, so we are wasting electricity if we are not using it. Some people suggest to always have water in the tub, but if the water freezes it may damage the unit. Any advise is greatly appreciated. Many thanks

Hi, thanks for your contribution. I have a smaller hot spa which I'm not using very often. I do switch it off for the winter by emptying it and cleaning it. However, when I switch it back on lots of (presumably) cal build up from the pipes...it looks disgusting and looks like bits of grated cheese. That only happens when I switch the pumps on after I refilled it with fresh water. As a result I need to start all over again. Such a waste of water. How do I avoid it ? As it seems I can never get the pipes fully clean when I switch it off for a period of time

Firstly I would be using a hot tub flush to clean all the bacteria beneath the system remove bio film and in clean internal pipe work, secondly I would be soaking the filter in filter cleaner in our estelle machine, I would be also using some waterline cleaner and also shocking the tub too 🤷♀️ you can also take out the jets on many tubs and clean them not quite sure why any of this wasn't done ?

You forgot to flush out the pipes with a degreaser to clean the whole system before emptying the water bro! And in Aus we always have to increase the Alkalinity and ph from the tap water, as for the chlorine there shouldn’t be a reading from the tap water, the chlorine levels should dissipate in the hours after adding the chlorine which should be done daily to kill any bacteria and for ph/alkalinity should be tested and adjusted weekly.
