For everyone saying the cell is stuck... you can't pull on it too hard because you will break the clear plastic screen (trust me, I found out the hard way). What you do is turn the top to the open position and then "bump" the pump on for half a sec (place in maintenance mode, push the pump button and quickly push it again when you hear it spinning up). This will cause the pressure to push the cell up slightly while also forming pressure (instead of a vacuum), which will allow you to easily lift the cell out of the chamber.

Not to nitpick, but you should always add acid to water, not water to acid. I understand the way you are doing it is probably safe but just fyi if someone is just pouring acid into a bucket.

Dude thank you so much for placing a black line at the bottom of muratic acid. And telling us how much water to put into the same gallon. I’m a visual person and by you showing “us” how much water and acid to put in……😅😊 you rock

Thank you for this video! I cleaned the cell with regular water ( without acid, cause I could not see any of deposit on the blades) and the systems keeps saying "no flow" - Should I try to clean with the acid before getting it fixed ? the water flow is very good. Thank you for your advice

My pool guy just installed a truclear with the cell on the vertical. He claims it is safe and sees it all the time when space is tight or on a retrofit. It is working fine. Thoughts

Thanks for this video. I cleaned my salt system for the first time after it had been installed for 6 months. There was definitely some calcium scales and your method worked like a charm. But now it's about 10 days after I did that, and i looked at it and it is totally caked with heavy calcium deposit. In the right after I cleaned it I did add some baking soda because my total alkalinity was low. I also added some CYA, because the pool cleaning company I had been using apparently hadn't put any in my system. (I live in FL and have an in ground plaster pool) We had our pool resurfaced at the same time the salt system was installed. Knowing all of these details do you have any idea why my metal plates became so caked with calcium deposit in such a short time?
@SPL
@SPL 4 жыл бұрын
Not sure why that would happen. You can try a product called Beautec by Easycare - that will help with the calcium build-up. You also may want ot consider adding borates to the pool to help keep the ph and ALK stable. But those two chemicals would nt cause calcium build-up
@grapplerguy2007
@grapplerguy2007 2 жыл бұрын
Not lsi balanced. These this new way it seems as I worked for 2 companies over 6 year span and never mentioned langlier Saturation Index. Main factor is water temp from there keep in regular spec. Pay the pool man has a lsi meter and we keep all Pools within spec. Borates work great on well water pools and problem pools and especially salt water pools that are constantly generating 8plus ph. Some of our pools it's near impossible to keep ph below 8 even when over dose with acid and lowering output on salt cell. Water is very aggressive so keeping within lsi is sure for win

I noticed that this method cleans the plates well, but doesn’t clean the calcium build up at the top - the part you see through the glass. It seems this area is enclosed, so you can’t reach it with a brush. Is it safe to put the entire piece under water?

@@SPL do I need to remove the black chord from the wall or leaving it connect because I’m shutting off the system ?
@fpsoa
@fpsoa 29 күн бұрын
Think about that. It's acid that is eating calcium. It is going to eat the rubber oring as well. Maybe not the first time, but eventually. Just plan to replace it at some point, if you don't remove it. Same for soaking that power cord. I wouldn't recommend it.

What they don't tell us is that rather than buying a new system - you can change out your own cells. It's simple - metal cut into strips - make sure you use the old metal plates as a template to draw your own cuts....done. I just saved you each $1000...and taking donations!~!

I just did this today and it worked perfectly. However, when the cell was removed I noticed that the two drains at the bottom of my pool began leaking a slow whitish cloud back into my pool. Could that be excess DE? Any ideas?

Sometimes air will get into the filter and push DE back. It should not be a problem. Nothing to worry about.

I bet your equipment sits below the pool water level. Try sticking a tennis ball in the skimmer hole - it is under the skimmer basket. That should stop the flow. Unless you see some red handle valves by the equipment. Those are ball valves and will turn the water flow off.
